I have PCD's but now debating HFPC's, please help
First I would like to apologize for creating a new thread. I've researched and and researched but don't know if I should pull the trigger or not. Who has heard both full RV6 setups, catless and high flow in person? I've seen and listened to plenty of youtube vids but I need opinions instead. No need in telling me specs just sound differences. Quieter, deeper, rasp, drone, etc. I'm hoping to order this week depending on outcome of this thread. If you could chime in richie that would be awesome too.

the HF Cat's will help retain some of the bottom end vs the PCD's. In all honesty, drill some holes in the factory cat's and you have some free Hi-Flow cats. Put on a J-pipe and maybe a 3rd cat delete (after the Jpipe) and you'll probably have a good setup.

Not trying to give the wrong impression. Pcds is the ultimate na mod and I don't have any regrets but if I could trade 2 whp for a sound I'm more satisfied with, I'll take it. Again, no wrong impressions cause the sound I have now is still good. It's just a lil too loud for my liking. During cold starts I feel bad for my neighbors and become a lil paranoid around 5o (catless in cali). The smell disappearing is also one of my leaning points along with the possibility of passing smog. Sooooo anyone hear catless and high flow complete RV6 setups in person?

Stock cats are made for passing smog so drilling holes will be a no. I do understand where you're getting at though but I believe the stock cats still cost more than the hfpcs. California.... cats gotta stay whole while collecting dust

I have the HFPCs on my Accord and I can't complain about the sound at all. It was actually the first mod I did, because a precat took a dump two weeks after I bought it. It didn't change the exhaust note at normal throttle at all, but made it deeper at half and full throttle. Even now with the third cat gone, JPipe and 3" catback exhaust there are zero odd noises other than the infamous Dynomax muffler tinny sound at WOT that I can hear, at any throttle input.
I can't recommend buying these if there isn't anything particularly wrong with the exhaust sound now; it doesn't sound great, just sounds pretty much like a normal exhaust to me. But if you do decide to buy these, I recommend finding Denso o2 sensors because even though they still work, and there is no misfiring or other codes as a result, at the first sign of misfiring due to a bad coil, both the upstream Bosch o2 sensors got fouled and there is now a solid CEL that cannot be cleared :|

funny thing about humans and sounds are: we cant ever decide if something sounds perfect to each individual.
really, how do you expect some one to explain sound differences through text? TEXT.
MAN the fawk up and get an exhaust setup already.
if you dont like it; revert back to stock or change some other exhaust component to change the sound to your liking.
Every one wants to know how something sounds.
I Knew going in that PCDs will rasp.
So, I wasnt surprised when I installed PCDs and it rasped.
Do I like the sound? NO.
What am I doing about it?
i ordered an exhaust that will change the sound of the PCDs.
DO I KNOW HOW IT WILL SOUND WHEN I PUT THE EXHAUST ON???
NO.
I do not.
Hopefully it will sound great.
but if not; Im going to have to go in and experiment what sounds good and what doesnt; according to my individual set up and preference.
yes, this means time and money, but the fact is no one has the same exact setup as you; and they sure as hell dont have the same ears as you.

Try it and if you don't like it, move on to the next. It's all trial and errors and its all what you like and tastes. you'll be more knowledgable at it to others as well with your experience. Earn em.

with the hfpc it will give off a hiss on a cold start up. after it warms up the hissing goes away. something similar with the pcd noise but about 25% less.

Topic never asked for bashing. I've spent over 2k on my exhaust setup so can a guy attempt to save time and money? I've had pcds since the V2's c'mon. It's hard to think about trial and error when you've already invested so much. Again for the third time this thread, Richie's exhaust is awesome. Justin so what you're telling me is that if you're not happy once you get and install that cat back, you're just gonna cut it up and add a res? Didn't think so
