ok, new to the site and new to looking at performance for my daily driver 04 TL. i have a mustang with a vortech and exhaust and it is far too loud for a long trip. don't want to do that on my TL. question is, does the comptech exhaust sound like a typical "fart can" or is it civilized? does it have that droning hum at highway speeds? also, does the AEM CAI have any sound issues aside from hearing gobs of air rushing in at WOT?

 

pufferfish74, You cant get your tl as loud as that mustang, ever!(imho) I have the comptech exhaust and aem intake, outlaw engineerings throttle body and intake manifold spacers, UR crank pulley, and sun automotives hvs & hgs. Far from stock, and I still take clients around all the time to show properties. You can keep the rpms low and it will be quiet, or stomp on it and sound a little more aggressive than a stock nissan 350z. The intake growls! but only under wot. I have a 6 speed & dont have any drone-ing issues. Go for it, wont be dissapointed.

 

We just went over this in another thread. In fact...it does drone.(I would have told you it didnt before I understood what droning was) Yes, it wont be as loud as a mustang (2 less cylinders popping to beging with) but it will be constantly loud out on the highway. (not like Greddys or something though) It does not get real quiet on the highway though. It is totally bearable though, esp in the city. Like he said...just dont get on it and it is quiet enough for clients.

 

oh, i know it won't be as bad as that stang...it shouldn't...thats a 600hp beast, but its all i have for comparison. i think the 350z plus a couple of decibles is exactly what i was looking for. i am interested in this throttle body and spacers. any verifiable hp gains? also, what is hvs and hgs? sorry for the ignorant questions. i have been searching these forums all day looking for all the performance goodies available. since i am on a roll, is the pulley worth the effort? is the new comptech SC really worth 4g's? dyno graphs show only marginal gains of 15-20 hp until 6500 or so, where it shoots to 60hp. would it give me the annoying whine at idle like my vortech does?
