How to Clean AEM Air Filter
For those of us who have the AEM intake and had it professionally installed and are hereby clueless, can someone post a step by step guide on how to clean the AEM air filter? I mean from start to finish, how to access and remove the filter, cleaning and re-installation. I havealso heard that having the a-spec front lip may interfere with the way you access the filter? Is this true?
Also at what mileages should we clean the AEM air filter?

I think there's something in the 3G garage on this.
As for the ASPEC lip, it does get in the way, somewhat...you just have to pull it out a little bit where it wraps into the wheel well to access a couple of screws/pins holding the fender liner in. Of course, you could just leave that part attached, remove the pins to the back side and top of the fender liner, and fold it down to access the filter. The latter is probably easier.

- take the front tire off
- take off the 3 left hand side plastic clips on the wheel wall liner (facing it btw 12 and 9 o'clock).
- if you have a-spec, take off 3 screws on the lower left hand side where a-spec front body kit meets the wheel wall. (2 visible and 1 behind the body kit. pull it slightly out a bit too c)
- take off 2 screws? + 1 clip that hold the wheel wall liner to the front under body lip.
- pull the liner off the tire wall slightly.
- now you see the the filter
- take it off
- if you have dry-flow filter (grey one), follow www.aempower.com instructions.
- if you have pink oil filter, spray cleaning solution and let it sit a while. rinse with warm water (repeat if necessary but no pressure spray please) and re-apply filter oil but don't over do it.
- put everything back in reverse order and voila.

thanks guys. that's just about it!
one thing tho, about how many miles between cleanings is good? i have the pink oiled filter.
oh, and what tools to remove the clips and screws? i dont want to get halfway done and realize i dont have a tool. i have a metric wrench set but that's about it. can the clips be undone by hand or what?

acutally i've done it without taking the f-tire off. just turn it in a bit and u can still do the same thing.
i'd same 10-15K but that's just me. oiled version filters better when dirtier. if you have that i suggest you might as well go buy the new dryflow. it has better initial filtering spec and better flow. 2c.
eh + and - screw drivers and a 10mm? socket wrench.
