Help. I'm lost on how much Hp and Tq I would gain.

I'm planning on buying the AEM intake v2 and installing an xlr8 j-pipe. Could anyone tell me how much horsepower and torque I would gain? Also, if you install the j-pipe by itself do you still gain anything or do you have to install an exhaust as well?

Gains on the intake should be roughly 10whp. Gains the on our j-pipe are 8-10whp and 15-18 wtq.

Yes you can just install the j-pipe without the exhaust.

The j-pipe will produce great gains (in comparison to other bolt-ons) even with your stock exhaust.

I have a 2005 TL, so that would mean I would have a total of about 254 torque and 288 hp? Would the car sound completely different or about the same? I haven't been able to find a video with just those 2 parts installed.

The car will not sound different however you will notice it roar a bit more because of the AEM intake and will produce like a sucking sound (will sound not different whatsoever during normal driving). The J-pipe will not change the exhaust tone at all from my understanding.

As far as power I guess technically you could add those gains ontop of the rated 270hp (258hp under new ratings), but those are figures ar the crank. To really figure out what it puts down to the wheels you will have to dyno the car. If you have some extra money and are truely curious how much they add have the car dynoed before and after the mods.

I installed the AEM V2 intake and it was the best money I ever spent in my life on a car. Even if it does increase horsepower, it is very minimal. But the sound it produces when the intake kicks in is insane. I love it. I have noticed though that now that winter has rolled in and the air has gotten colder the car has been pulling a lot stronger. This is when the CAI really gives you the best performance.

I'm not dropping the car. Especially if its going to cause problems with a j-pipe. I'd rather have speed

I am really not that handy when it comes to mechanics but I figured it out pretty quickly. It took me a couple of hours and had the computer on that tutorial that's on this site. If I were to do it again I probably could do it in like an hour. The j-pipe I would have someone do. I think since it is under the car it would just be easier for someone to do it IMO since I don't have a lift at my house.
