Hawk Pad Owners: Ceramic or HPS
Which ones do you have? have you tried both? according to TireRack HPS has better stopping power but ceramics has less dust and Low noise.

I have the HPS on stock rotors and while they stop well, they've beaten the hell outta my rotors. The rotors have ridges all the way around them from the pads digging in. Also, after spirited driving, if you have to brake while reversing they let out a god awful squeal.
Racing brake makes some good pads and there are plenty of other options available through the vendors on this board.

from wat i have came across by searching in the past, hawk pads are trash and will mess up your stock rotors. now if you change the rotors to another brand, im not sure wat the outcome will be.
i have rotora h2 pads and stoptech rotors and yea, im stoppin on a dime too!

got hawk pads....lasted me 2 years, still going pretty good....and they :stop:
the only problem is brake dust....since my winter rims are black and summer are gunmetal, i could care less....!!!!
but yeah ++++ for stopping and -- for brake dust !!!
FYI, i have this setup with powerslot slotted rotors....!!! 2 years, ~50K miles !!!

Then Excellerate, what do you suggest for pads? I've got 24,000 miles on my OEM pads, and I've got to think I'll be needing pads soon.

Yes, I've got OEM everything right now. I wanted to change to slotted or drilled/slotted rotors with the Brembo's, but I've also kept the OEM wheels. So you wouldn't see them very well because of the OEM wheels.
Yea, that's what it seems like. I was hoping to get rid of some of the brake dust though. I'm tired of cleaning out the wheels every few days.

i have the hps hawk brake pads on the stock rotors and what a mistake------they are not bad they stop the car on the dot but they eat away the rotors.....the same thing that happened to TIMELESS happened to me-----my front rotors have ridges all around them...i am in the process of buying EBC Sport Rotors (Dimpled and Slotted) I AM SWAPING TO BREMBO SET UP FOR MY TL

Still running the stock setup on the TLS but I had the HPS with slotted rotors on my Cobra. The pads grip well, eat the rotors and for the most part sounded like a 1983 school bus when I hit the brakes. I put some Brembo pads back on it. Doesn't stop as well but is much quieter and less dust.

As more or less stated in my thread, the Hawk HPS pads I put on my TL-S are fine for day to day driving... Hell, a POS $18 supermegaturbocarbonceramicdustbuster brand pad from Autozone would work fine for normal daily use. But after my track experience, I'm not running Hawk stuff again. On top of the rotor wear issue, they tend to turn to ash if you severely heat cycle them a couple times.
Ironically, my brother doesn't have much trouble with them on his Sentra SE-R track car. They groove his rotors a little but it's not too bad, and they tend to stay in one piece. But there's a difference between a lightened Sentra and a stock heavyweight TL.
