Hawk brake pads for the 6-speed?

I want to buy some Hawk brake pads for my six-speed. I found them at tirerack.com.

Couple of questions:

They list, Cerramic, Street, and Race applications, what does everyone recommend? (I do not race or autocross my vehicle).

The pads are listed as special order, has anyone ordered from them, how long does it take to receive them?

Thanks,

I used the HPS (street) for my brake job.

$115.00 from the local Subi dealership.
do note that the part # for the TL and STI are different, the STI pads are slightly thicker, but still work just fine.

how's the dust? Any squealing?

I installed Rotex Kevlar Golds last April. I deliberately did not wash the wheels for two months to note the dusting (I have an '04 manual). I estimate the dusting dropped between 80 and 90%.

Expect to lose some braking efficiency when you go do a low dust pad. But for street use, you'll be fine.

I installed the HPS and they significantly reduced the brake dust …but they do squeal a little when they hit a certain temperature (common with high performance brakes) – yet they perform great! At the time tirerack did not have the ceramic, which I will put on next time. Just make sure you follow the directions for the “bedding-in” process, it is critical! Also make sure your rotors are looking good, i.e., nice and smooth.

Good luck!
