is it easy to DIY??

Not easy at all. If you are not comfortable taking apart your center console, don't. The dealership that installed mine, took 2.5 to 3 hours.

 

My short shifter is sitting in my room...If the center console removal is the hardest part, I'm all over this. I've just been waiting to do Phase II of my carPC install to put this in- that way I could take the console out once, rather than twice

 

HAHA!! mine's sitting in the glovebox for over a month! i've been sooooo lazy lately... it must be the heat.

 

honda dealership installed mine. they told me that they installed short shifts on civics, integras, s2k's, accords, preludes, blah blah blah all the time, so it was no problem. they estimated me less than 2 hours of service. these dudes had no idea what they were gettin themselves into. it took them 5 hours to do it, but only charged me for 2 hours. after it was done, the shifts feel short and good, but takes a lil effort. the head tech said it was most complicated one he ever did,but in the end, it all worked out pretty good. it cost me around 130 total
