Smile GReddy EVO2

Hey guys, tomorrow (Monday 23rd) is my 16th birthday and I have racked up some cash. I have had my eye on a GReddy EVO2 for a long time, and now I can afford one. Can anyone tell me anything important about installation? I know it is a straight bolt on. Do I need to replace the bolts or does it come with them or what? Also how should I raise the car, I have these two car ramps and i thought about reversing onto them having the back lifted well off the ground. My car is lowered, so if I see that the car will scratch, I will find an alternative. Please give me all input.

lol, not to sound like a snob, but what do you think my parents are for, they have been saving part of their money because they came to america from iran, and went through hardship, became very wealthy, and now don't want me to go through the same hardship. i'm probably gunna get shit for saying this though.

Yeah... okay. Good to know you appreciate them and everything they've done for you/and still doing. :shakehead

Anyways, the OEM exhaust is basically one piece from the 3rd cat. back. Just crawl under your vehicle and take a look around. Installation is 100x easier with a lift. But it is still absolutely possible with just jack stands.

Get the Comptech Exhaust!

Exhaust is a simple bolt on and is 100x easier with the right (electronic) tools.

A little friendly advice/opinion, since it is a lot of money, just for some pipes and mufflers.

The TL does not have much luxury feel. A loud exhaust will take away from the luxury feel. It's one thing to have a sporty, nice exhaust, another to have a loud drone machine. Personally I like the look of the quad tips, really fits in with the rear end. Think about road trips for example, that would suck hearing that much drone for that long.

Unfortunately, I can't go on road trips--parent's rule. I kind of like the loud exhaust, but I will consider getting the comptech as mentioned above. Can anyone tell me what the sond level is compared to the Greddy EVO2? I also picked this one because it is the cheapest, but maybe i'll wait and get more money and get the comptech. Someone tell me how much quieter it is over the Greddy.

its alot quieter then the greddy .... the drone on the greddy is crazy....

plus if you get the comptech exhaust and down the road you wanna sell the comptech exhaust you'll get a pretty penny for it

Comptech isn't quiet, nor is it the loudest. Comptech is the best pre-made exhaust for the 3G TL base. Perfect sound, good gains, and low cabin noise.

Should've bought a TSUDO. $467 shipped and installed. I couldn't be happier, everyone at the muffler shop was impressed and blown away by the price.

I came from a custom straight pipe exhaust and I could barley talk on the phone it was so loud.

a socket wrench would be strong enough, and i am assuming the wd40 is if it is rusted and needs a little slip to it

Well, just as an update, the exhaust came in and I am probably going to install it this weekend. I will post pics and maybe make a DIY although it is super easy. Does any not suggest me using car ramps and backing up onto them? I am afraid, since my car is lowered that the front will hit the ground and that wouldn't be good. I will probably have to remove the mud flaps under the bumper though. So just a regular socket wrench and WD-40 right?

GReddy has a nice growl to it. I have the comptech on my car. Makes coming back to my neighborhood at 3am a little nicer. Soon I will be changing up my setup for something that people won't like me for haha. But I will still keep the comptech around since it is a nice piece it needs some polishing anyway =D. I like the comptech though. Its nice and quiet when cruising and has a nice lil growl when your on the throttle.

YOu shouldnt hit but I just use jack stands and an extra pair of hands help also. What you need are socket set, flat head screwdriver, wd-40 or pb blaster. I prefer pb blaster. The flathead is for prying the exhaust off the hangars and the pb is to lube the hangars and break off those bolts.

Alright thanks Nail. Ya my dad and lil bro are going to help me. I want to do it today, but I am sick with a cold and didn't go to school today, so I doubt my parents will let me. I don't want to wait til this weekend though. And am I going to see you at Cars and Coffee for December? You know it is the day after Christmas. I met Rick_TLS and saw horsepowercrazy. Anyways hopefully you are right and I don't hit.

Yea just make sure you lock up those front wheels when you jack it up depending on how your doing it. Yea I will see if I can make it. I do not see why not unless the weather is shitty. But for sure I will make it. Just had some family things pop up I needed to take care of first.

Well it is coming on this weekend. Do you have jack stands and a alligator jack I can borrow? I was going to use a ramp, but it turns out that the new exhaust will be too big and scratch. Let me know if it is ok and I will call you if you give me your #. We can meet locally.

I got jack stands but the jack I have is kinda shitty. I have a small 3 ton wal mart jack. Need to upgrade.
