Got J-Pipe?

Just got mine in yesterday. With the help & hospitality of mmade22 ( ).

Great fit, great design: Props to Mike at ATLP. Bolts in super smooth. And you can see where the gains come from: much less flow restriciton.

Great sound even on a modded stock exhaust. It's a nice low/deep growl that starts at lower RPMs and carries on through VTEC to the redline. The intake noise doesn't overwhelm the stock exhaust anymore; more of a 50/50 split. Awesome!!.

Between this and the UR Pulley (also installed yesterday) definite gains in the low and mid RPMs.

Installed:

Thanks.

Wanted to try it and see if it'll hold up. Would like to do the test pipe the same and eventually a catback too. Although powdercoat might be a better way to go -

I wondered if you'd be doing this this past weekend. Nice. You painted it (can't see the pics)? Huh...interested in seeing that. How was the crank pully install?

Oh, love the signature!

I think that no matter what type of "protection" method you use against rust/corrosion, the smallest scratch (rom a speed bump or a small pebble) thru the protective layer and you're toast. Plus, bolting down the flanges will break thru the layer too, I think.

Obviously its MUCH better than leaving the pipe bare to the elements.

Did you use a spray?

Absolutely right about the nuts/flanges. I figured it couldn't hurt. Whether it lasts or not .... hope so , but, meh, whatever .... worth a few bucks and an hour or so to fool with it.

Yes, spray:

- Cleaned with Brake Parts Cleaner.
- Scuffed with a ScotchBrite Pad (green).
- Cleaned again with Brake Parts Cleaner.
- Taped off flex pipe & mating surfaces.
- Primed with VHT Header Primer (gray).
- Painted with VHT Header Paint (flat black).

^ No, I agree with you. Every little bit helps.

I don't think I'd paint over my polished RV6 one though

The Pulley is . Gotta go easy on the gas from a stop and I am convinced the shifts (Auto or, especially SS) felt much smoother.

I posted a couple notes in the 3G Garage Pulley Thread.

Glad you were able to figure out the silly hanger. Sometimes it just works, other times you have to strategically place it.

Nice write up Bearcat. Had a lot of fun with the mods and even more fun driving your car crazy to get the pizza. Love the new Signature. You forgot to put the Lambo doors that we installed this weekend.

Mike, no big deal. mmade22 and I were talking about pulling it out and starting with the hanger (instead of connecting it last - our mistake ). But I thought I'd call you to see if there was something we were missing. Thanks for helping on a Saturday afternoon.

Basically, we did what you suggested: Got the hanger on the J-Pipe, loosely connected it to the car, then got the J-Pipe ports in place, loosely, then tightened everything down.

mmade22 - signature fixed. Thanks.

Bearcat,

You and mmade are an awesome pair. You guys should go into the performance parts installation business on the side.

I want to see the Lambo Doors, the custom "Porshe Style" Rear Wing a the dual racing stripes!!!
