even after doing the full exhaust and then buying u bends and fabbing them for the exhaust bends will be cheaper than getting a fully mandrel bent system from the start.

yeah less than 10hp for the catback....you forget eliminating the ugly jpipe....and a jpipe upgrade ATLP or RV6 or XLR8 yeilds another 8-10hp...prolly more....

finally the precats give out pretty much similar gains the jpipe+catback give you !!! ~18-20.....

now all of this was on separate cars.....am not saying lets add them up and graduate !!! thats why i am expecting atleast a 25-30 whp going from stock exhaust from the pre cats to a precat deleted true dual !!!

btw i hope i didnt misunderstand your previous post !!! that being said....the catless TL is going smell like shit

Yup. We looked into getting a mandrel machine and realized it wasn't worth it. We did some jobs by buying mandrel pieces and then welding them together but it was a huge pain in the ass and it was very expensive for the customer. On most cars using a regular pipe machine is just fine. And a hell of a lot cheaper. Shit, even using a TIG welder is more expensive.

J&r are most likelye collecting exhaust from both banks (front and rear) this merges into one pipe and spins the turbo. u dont want a true dual. with a turbo u want a fat single.

I run dual exhaust on my turbo car. But there's no such thing as a true dual on a single turbo car. All 6 cylinders have to merge into one to feed the turbo. Once it exits the turbo via the downpipe you can split it into duals if you want. It's really personal choice. Duals are usually quieter than singles with the same mufflers. Sound between the two will be more or less the same with the turbo. You can go with something a little louder on the turbo car since the turbo itself will make it a bit quieter during normal driving. However, once under full boost it can get pretty loud.

You should hear some of our turbo cars that are pushing close to 30psi. They're so quiet at idle and normal driving but once they hit boost they can be heard for miles.

OK SO LETS REVIVE THE THREAD

I came across a good exhaust shop in KC....and he gave me a quote for the exhaust....if all goes good, I should have the exhaust by end of next week....

He says he can have 2.25" true dual exhaust for ~$1100 with mufflers/resonators/flex pipes included....he will also throw in the before and after dynos....

he says if i go the route of 2.5" true dual he can do it 950-ish.....

The only thing that is worrying me is:
"straight sections will be 409 stainless and some of the bends would have to be 304 stainless."

My questions are:
1> Is it worth it ? $1100 for a 409 SS exhaust
2> Any objections with going with 2.5" all the way back ? or will it not have enough back pressure ? I dont wanna cheap out but just thinking about it.....

Lets get this thread back on the track so you all can hear what a true dual sounds like

Most places use 409 and that is a good deal if they good a good job and use all magnaflow mufflers/stainless hangers/bolts and such.

you said a flex pipe too? So he is doing a jpipe too then? For 1100 that's not bad.
