ok can some one direct me towards the mufflers i should get....

am looking at magnaflows rather than borla/flowmaster/yada yada....i think the magnaflows produce a deeper sound/tone....but which ones...

ovals 5x11 / 4x9 / total length ??? / offset ???

for the resonator how long of a resonator ??? 4", 5" ???

I went with 5x8 but either will work. Outlets/inlets were center/offset (one end was centred, the other was offset). Magnaflows are reversible. I had the offset ends at the inlet side to match the factory, as I kept the stock piping.

Also, the 14" body length is a bit tight if you reuse the stock piping and tips. A 11" body length would be better in that case.

Speaking in general terms, a larger muffler will be quieter and deeper all else being equal. Mild steel seems to give it a deeper rumble while stainless is sometimes louder.

I've had both mild steel and stainless on my GN, both with the exact same exhaust system and the exact same straight through muffler with the same packing and I ended up keeping the mild steel because it's very deep and mean sounding. However the stainless lets more of the turbo whistle out of the pipes for the upcoming turbo TLs.

I think his set up was each side of the muffler came from either the front or the rear primary cat directly.

i just wanted to know if he threw some resonators on each side or how did he accommodate a 3rd cat !!!

I think it went from the primaries to a "H" pipe straight back, no third cat or J pipe. Its all custom.

I think there will be killer gains with this mod....headers --> magnaflow --> tips....

just one concern i had was....when inspection time is around you better have hookups.....coz u will be running cat-less and no room to throw a cat either !!!

^^^ so when can we expect to hear some video clips....man this is precisely what i wanted to do.....

the difference will be you will have a deeper growl....i might get a little rasp from the PCD's....but yeah crazy gains....i think you will be expecting close to 35whp ??? prolly more ???

35whp ??

Not to come after you but, I do not get how people want 48230483hp, change the full exhaust but expect no rasp. I have heard PCD, XLR8 J pipe to high flow cat to comptech and it sounds beautiful, NO DRONE. Tiny rasp from PCD, but it sounds cool.

Not sure why people want it all but also want a quite car.

yes close 35 whp....the headers will alone yield 20 whp....and your forgetting he is getting a true dual which explains there will be no losses from merges/splits....the exhaust should yield close to 20whp (catback + jpipe equation).....

now i understand that you just cant add HP....its sometimes is more complementary than a direct addition....i think this setup should yield him and easy 30+ whp....again that magnaflow muffler is a straight thro muffler....the width is 2.5" which will have great back pressure for low end torque !!! so I dont see how this setup wont yield ~30whp and ~20-25wtq !!!

and about wanting everything....try throwing a PCD with greddy exhaust on a 3G TL with jpipe and 3rd cat delete.....the rasp and rattle will slaughter you !!! and i bet no one and lemme put it this way, NO ONE would like rasp.....after all you dont wanna put a fart can on a TL with blacked out tail lights !!!

yeah it is a great exhaust, but i wanted my car to sound different and i think the true dual will give it a little more power than the XLR8 or the ATLP plus its cheaper

well guys. spoke to my guy today. piping will be 2.5 all the way back (the headers are 2.5) we are doing this because we will have a small H pipe connector and we dont want to over exhaust the car. no cats will be installed and the magnaflows will be at the back of the car. i got bigger cans to muffle the rasp.

if i get too much rasp ill be going with summit racing hfc's but ill probably try a resonator first.

exhaust goes in on sunday and i fly to VA on monday so dont expect sound clips till that weekend

^^^ right now i wanna kick ur ass just like the white dude did in the video LOL !!!

cant wait !!! if you dont mind me asking....how much are you paying for labor + parts !!!

I want to hear your setup and if there isnt much rasp then i can save myself $150 on 2 resonators !!! The parts I went with PCD + Muffler + tips were like 250+200+50 = $500 and then i got the PCD's coated ceramic black, inside out for better flow !!! $50 more !!!

And the shop said they will charge me $600 labor for a full madrel bent SS 2.5" tubing, TIG weld and all the labor !!! So a full setup for $1150....which is not bad considering ATLP and XLR8 catback is only $1000

You think that is reasonable ?

2.5" seems pretty big unless you're FI. Is there something you're not telling us? I'm anxious to see & hear the results..

im not factoring all the extra parts. i already had headers. i get the mufflers at cost and the work is costing me 225 dollars. so im waaaay less than you. you are paying for mandrel bends mostly.

2.5 is actually perfect for the 2g. too many people say that its for FI when 3inch is actually more suited for boost.

also, the wider diameter will eliminate bottleknecks because the downpipes are 2.5.

this will also help flow because im getting crush bends for now. if it provides gains then i will buy U-bends and finish the exhaust correctly.

heres the before dyno I KNOW I AM RUNNING RICH, the after dyno will be under these same conditions to eliminate variables.

hmog.. is that on a dynojet because your before numbers are pretty good. I wonder if your low end will change much.

my major concern was the width....i think i will be going with 2.25" and mandrel bents.....as majofo said 2.5 will be a little big for a NA engine !!! 2.5 will definitely provide free-er flow but wont provide any back pressure, so you might loose some low end torque (please correct me if am wrong...still learning) !!!

why are you going with crush bends ? not trying to attack you, just curious !!!
