Fujita vs aem cai
#84
I know there is someone out here who has had both. I know michael Benz did a thread way back comparing the Injen to the AEM and he gave a serious breakdown of the differences.
Does anyone know the sound and performance differences between the Fujita and AEM. I've been hearing mixed opinions on both as far as sound and performance.

Hears a good soundclip for those who want to know. The Fujita even sets off car alarms (you'll hear one going off at the end of the video)

AEM from what I hear you can hear at idle. It all depends on what you want.

So the difference in price i'm sure your paying for the carb exempt technology. Only thing i'm disturbed about with the AEM intake is that they don't have an AEM V2 CAI for the 04-08 TL. Mines is an 04 6MT

Does the AEM come with a sticker on it saying it's 50 state legal? How does the smog technician know it's 50 state legal?

Atleast I think it was two... I don't have a good picture and I don't have the car anymore[not till Monday or after]. So I can't verify that for you.

Nevermind. I found a few pictures of my 'unboxing' of the AEM CAI [that had TB spacers/gaskets in the box from EXCELERATE]. Two stickers... picture does not display clear words of the two smaller CARB stickers though. I'll upload now.

Can someone show me a picture where you put the vibrator mount for a AEM CAI? I've seen pictures in other threads but none that shows you exactly where to put it.

Upon closer evaluation of the stickers on the intake... it is actually one CARB sticker and the other is a warning. Hmn..
Where my finger is, is one of the wires that was originally in the spot that you see the vibration mount in now. You just have to yank that out--remove the entire [or half of the] front bumper to access the wheel well area. A lock-washer and the screw goes on one end [in the wheel well]. The intake's hook thing goes ontop of the vibration mount followed by the lock-washer and then the screw.
edit: holy crap these images are huge. I should've just created a new thread or pm'd you... lol. How do I even edit this into thumbnails?

i have the 2008 tl type-s..........i just had the aem intake installed and i must say im totally happy with it!!!!......it looks good, had to cut away some plastic stuff underneath to make it fit(no biggie!!)........but it sounds great and my car definetley has even more power and feels quicker that it even was before..................originally 286hp.......now im sure its kickin on 300hp...................so i highly reccommend it.................as far as the bypass valve i was just told by an aem tech on the phone that the valve is not yet approved for the 2008 type-s,so it is currently not available......but like he said before just dont submerge your car in water and youll be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!by the way i love my ride and it is a truly amazing machine,i get compliments on it every single day..........i have the black with the two tone interior!!!!, car has every possible option,..................

Wow I wish I had found those prices when I was shopping. I got my Fujita for 212.00 Shipped. The Aems were around 270.00 shipped.

I have an 07 TL-S, and use the 04-06 TL Fujita CAI, which is p/n MA-1006 (it fits/works perfectly fine). If you can get it for $183 shipped, that's a steal. I can't find a single place that sells one for under $200 shipped - not even eBay.

(For some reason, I can't edit my original post...)
With regards to the install, I recommend watching the video here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/diy-video-uninstalling-oem-intake-installing-cold-air-intake-3g-garage-b-001-a-628372/. I did the entire install without taking off my bumper, but in hindsight, I wish I had - it would have gone much faster, and would have been much easier. Getting the resonator off took me FOREVER.
