Unless you're going F/I modding for performance on this car is just not worth it. You won't feel the minimal gains that bolt ons provide on a 3500lb.+ wrong wheel drive sedan.

Worth is subjective.

I wish everyone had the opportunity to drive a TL before and after a tune. There IS a difference.

If you dont have an intake then do that before flashpro.

I would go suspension before anything myself so I vote that. Then intake. Then tune.

There seems to be a lot of back-and-forth on the "To Mod Or Not To Mod" in this thread. So, let me ask those of you who have full bolt ons / tune / etc:

Is there a sound difference between intake/catback and intake/j-pipe/catback? I am beginning to side with the "it's not worth the money spent" crowd, but all I want is the car to sound nasty. If I gain a few horses of power, then that's lovely. I'd rather not spend the extra few hundred dollars on a j-pipe if it literally makes no difference in the sound (tone, volume or both) of the exhaust note. My money will be better spent fixing up other areas of the car that need my attention (like the metal dash trim chipped to hell, the delaminated door handle or respraying the front bumper).

@XLR8...

I know that video intimately. I just don't know how much difference it makes with the j-pipe in the mix as well versus just the catback. I am on a shoe-string budget right now, and I gotta deal with that clutch issue first because driving the car at all is kinda a priority. I mean, I could just leave the clutch alone until it dies, and buy fun stuff first...

Also - is that the resonated version? What brand intake?

^^ that's the resonated version. But the xlr8 resonator can barely be called a reaonator haha. I switched mine to a larger resonator when I got the HFPCs

Why not do cheap exhaust mods? You can delete the mid muffler, 3rd cat, primary cats. Any one of those will yield a more aggressive sound, mid muffler/3rd cat delete being the more mild and primary cat deletes being more radical. Look up staged exhaust mods.

The catback is what makes most of the sound and if you don't have the resonator there will also be some drone. The J-Pipe adds a little rumble but it's mostly a power adder. If your clutch is going, I recommend doing that first. Once you have an exhaust on my guess is you'll be driving more aggressively which would only make the problem worse.

As for the video, I'm not sure what intake that particular car had.
