First Modifications to 2006 TL

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum as well as the Acura world. I just bought a 2006 Acura TL 3.2L and was wondering about some first modifications. I was thinking CAI but the price range is from $50-$310 but all the intakes look the same. What is the best CAI for the 2006 UA6 3.2L for the price? I was thinking between this or an exhaust. Would love some input about it.

Regards,
UA6TL

it's kind of hard to spend that kind of money, when the intakes dont really provide any horse power gains.
all you will net is a beefier induction sound, as air is being breathed into the engine.

we have a cold air intake system stock from the factory.
you can remove the air intake resonator to provide the incoming air a straight path to the throttle body.

I was looking at the intake and like you said it seems as if it would be pretty easy to make a DIY CAI by doing something similar to that. Especially since it is right by the front bumper.

Anyways, what would you suggest as first couple of mods if I can just do the DIY CAI?

modding is pretty personal.
what are some things that YOU think you could improve on?
whether it be looks, driving comfort, performance, etc.

One of my first mods was to tint the windows, as the Texas sun isnt a joke.

are you after aesthetics?
do you want to have a little more growl exiting the tail pipes?
are you happy with the interior? is there something that you think would make your drives more pleasant?

if you are looking for suggestions, it would be better if you spent your time browsing the forums to pick up some ideas you want.
then, you can further refine your goals as you learn more about this platform .

A little more aggressive sounding exhaust would be great, nothing too much but just enough to notice. I was thinking of replacing the muffler and resonator because I also like the factory exhaust tips. I wanted to do a CAI because I wouldn't mind the acceleration sounding a bit beefier too but there's a ton of different ones from $50 to $310 like I said and I didn't know the difference between them since they all looked the same and had roughly the same specs and were made of the same material.

Example:

vs.

if you're dead set on spending your hard earned cash on a silly silver pipe that doesnt do anything....then go ahead and get any intake at any price.

like i said, you're better off doing the resonator delete and then go with your plan for the exhaust system.

do I sound like a broken record, yet?

If you get an intake get the AEM V2. Either way as JustnSpace said its mostly just for a nicer sound than anything so its up to you if you want to spend the $275 for that sound.

OP if you plan on not doing anything major mods to the engine then take justn's advise.

If you plan on modifying the engine i.e. ported heads, IM, TB, runners, etc. then I will suggest getting one, but still there isnt a need to spend 200-300 on it.

If you are dead set on still wanting one with no interest in modifying the motor, then just build one from ebay as its really no difference in performance; just style albeit make sure you get a dry flow filter.

For a new owner, get use to the car 1st. Before you do anything to your TL, research. My 1st mod on my TL-S was a K&N panel filter.

if one didnt agree, they would be stupid to spend $250 on a pipe that doesnt do anything.
