Stage 3 Question

Okay so im a complete noob at this stuff, but w.e.

Alright so i want to do a stage 3 of stage 4 mod to my TL, im leaning towards stage 4 but i also want to add this muffler to it. I dont want to hear that raspy noice, ill hate it. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/d...rtnumber=11365

So my question is (this is where the noobness kicks in), since the pipes on that muffler at 2.25'' will it fit the 2.5'' straight pipes? And will I need to get rid of my stock tail pipes if i change my muffler or are the tail pipes and stock muffler seperate?

I run this exact set-up. Basically they replace the mid muffler and resonator with one big 2.5 straight pipe. Then when it gets back to the rear muffler if you lift your car up you will see that it has a 'bend' (not sure of what to call it) that leads to your rear mufflers. They will also need to cut that out and fabricate up something for you so that it will connect with the muffler. Your stock tips will bolt right up to the other end.

Not sure if you have riden in one but it is VERY loud inside between 2-3k RPMs. Were talking you can't speak normal to someone in your passenger seat loud. I love it but some others its not their cup of tea. This is why most people stick with stage 3 and replace the stock resonator with a Dynomax or Magnaflow.

I might just go with stage 3 then.. how much would it cost to get it done for each stage?

Yes I have magnaflow mufflers #11365 (Same as the one you linked in your original post)

It sounds great on the outside but on the inside as I said from 2-3k it is very loud inside the car.

I paid $165 for the mufflers (remember you have to buy 2 obviously) and for them to remove the mid muffler and resonator it was 60 a piece + installing the magnaflow rear muffler was another 30. $150 for all that.

So total about $300.

As for stage 3 it would probably be a similar cost since you would have to buy a resonator + the install would equal about the same cost to remove the resonator all together and replace it with a straight pipe.

Btw, does removing the mm or the resonator decrease fuel efficency directly?

I had the 18" Dynomax resonator, MM delete, Mag 11365 rears and v3 jpipe for a while. The Dynomax ended up failing - the welds inside the chamber split so it was making this rattling sound. I put the OEM resonator back in and kept the rest of the setup the same. I like it. And when the wife drives it, she says it sounds good too
