Fab my exhaust today!

So I took some advice from a couple of threads and removed my resonator and bottom cat, and replace them with straight piping! Sounds real clean and is definitely noticeable performance and sound! Cant wait to get the Jpipe

thats called an o2 sensor. there are 4 of them in our cars, 2 on each primary cat coming directly off the engine. 1 before the converter, 1 after.

3rd cat doesnt gain that much performance, maybe 2-3whp

and i mean, since he said welded straight pipe for the bottom(3rd?) cat, is retarded since it bolts off

.. If the mid-muffler is in place then it sounds like a weld at the mid muffler - straight pipe to J. I hope it was cheap.

he probably meant mid muffler. who would weld a straight pipe in palce of the 3rd cat when you can easily replace it with a test pipe or race pipe which are bolt ons.

I made my own straight pipe/test pipe for my 3rd cat! It has flanges on both sides so you can unbolt it! I like to custom fab my own shit because I can and their is no o2 sensor on the third cat! Some people really need to get their hands dirty sometime and look at their car... Haha

You making your own race pipe is not the issue.. The 3rd cat has decent flow.. The reference was because you suggested that the mid-muffler be left in, but everyone who has removed the mid has noticed no detrimental sound issues that would be described as obnoxious and you have further decreased exhaust restriction as you did with the 3rd cat removal.. so suggesting to leave it in is hypocritical..

anybody gives dyno and soundclip of variants

1. only 3d cat deleted
2. 3dcat + mid muffler deleted
3. all cats deleted or replaced on racing flame dampers + mid muffler off

+ has anybody full race system with strait parts(i mean straight flow resonator, mufflers & flame dampers or racing cats)?
want soundclip & Structure of an exhaust path

the majority of gains for aftermarket exhaust comes from the larger piping. 2.25 -> 2.5. since most aftermarkets dont have mid mufflers.

on the stock exhaust, the hp gains are MINIMAL. maybe .5hp for the mid muffler delete, and maybe 1.5-2 for the 3rd cat delete

you mean if there will be full straight flow exhaust the hp gains are minimal.. any dyno for example?
ok and what about sound?

do you have any example with 2,5 or 3 + dyno?

The reason I said to leave the mid muffler in was because I'm sure the exhaust would become raspy!! From what I have moded it sounds really nice and isnt raspy..

I have mid & 3rd cat removed with dynomax res.. the sound is subtle.. no rasp or rice.. nice grunt & whistle, definitely not obnoxious.

dynos are expensive...we are regular people, not big companys that have money for R&D

3 inch piping is WAY to big for the tl. 2.5 max
