Exhaust Systems

Whatsup guys,

For a while now, I've been in the market for switching out my exhaust system but I don't know if I should buy a complete kit or custom fab my own system. I kinda would like to figure out what it takes to custom fab my own so I can compare prices and such; however, what exactly would I need in order to custom fab it? Right now, I have the resonator addition with a mid-muffler delete.

Basically, what I am looking for is:

1) A louder, more aggressive sound that does not only appear when revving high.
2) Quad tips. I have an 06 and I know quad tips are not likely to fit but I want to try to make them fit. Maybe if I remove that little plastic part?

I've really been reseaching this but have not found too much information that I can work off of seeing as how I am not too familiar with exhaust systems and what they exactly consist of. If someone can recommend some nice quad tips that I can use without changing my bumper to an 07, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, any information on increasing sound and performance would help as well.

Thanks in advance.

as your requirement for quad tips... it is prob the only direct bolt on exhaust you will find without modification... anything else may need you to do some customization or changing your rear bumper...

as far as a louder tone, you have an AT so it isn't as nice as what the MT guys will experience as far as revving if that is what you are looking for... performance gains will come with any exhaust that is less restrictive than stock... but if loud is what you want, you can always just put in a shorter resonator or even just delete the resonator and do straight pipe from the cat to the exhaust...

I agree with kamlung, your best bet would be to get the atlp for the base tl and then get a type s lip custom painted to match your anth metallic

It's pretty impossible to fit quad tips on the base rear. You have the ASpec too so the plastic piece your talking about doesn't really exist on your car. Best bet and most satisfying result will be switching to a Type S bumper and Type S lip.

Here's my custom staggered quadback with the TLS bumper/lip

You can always go with the Porsche tips, and trim along your stock bumper, but you need a great body shop to ensure even trims along both sides, and then finding an "affordable" set of Porsche tips. After that, you need to find the mufflers you want, and also a shop that will do nice welds and bends. It's a lot of money spent if you don't get it right on the dot...speaking from experience.

Honestly..I love the ATLP on the 3.2..it's just the right tone, growl, ear-gasm.

any custom work (porsche tips) are not cheap and you always run the risk of it not turning out right... from what i found, it always never goes right the first time... and you always have to put out more money to get it fixed to your liking... why do you think it takes so much to get a prototype developed???

why ugh??? don't like the ATLP??? it works to all your requirements...

If you are looking to go custom there are a number of threads on here with which resonator and mufflers to get.

We are producing a catback exhaust right now for the base TL. It should be out within 1-2 months.

Excelerate, Do have any information on the exhaust you are developing? i.e. pipe size, finish, tone, gains and tips. I am in the market for an exhaust for my '06 and may lean towards buying a Comptech from you when they become available in January or I can wait if what you are developing is better. Also are the procats stamped and how much would they be delivered. By the way the thermal block spacer was a great mod for the money thanks again!

If you are interested I have a new Greddy for sale on the black market section. I had it on for 20 minutes. I have original receipt and packaging material.
