Exhaust help...

I've scoured the forum for a all-in-one thread, but I can't seem to find one. Can someone help me out by suggesting a set-up for me?

I want to add a few hp and get a throaty sound from my set-up, w/o spending a fortune. What would be an optimal for me? (J-pipe, race pipe, pre-cats, straight pipe) And do I have to change the mufflers to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance.

If you're trying to keep the cost down just do a j-pipe, high flow third cat or test pipe and a mid muffler delete.

How about the J-Pipe, cat-back w/dual 4.5" tips, and a 3rd cat delete/test pipe? What should I do about the other 2 main cats? I was thinking about leaving them alone???

+1 good way to get power with out spending aload of money

j pipe ,high flow 3rd cat or test pipe with aero resonator and mid muffler delete

j pipe depend on which brand you get 300-400 i think and test pipe 50-75 aero resonator 60 shipped so you can almost get all of this for 500 or less these numbers are on the high side

I agree and it is a good way to gain power for those that have the car for not too long. I, on the other hand, am sick of looking at those muffler tips since 2005 and that is why I want change.

But don't get me wrong. What you have said is perfect solution for those that do not want to spend too much $$$$

question guys...i already had the mid muffler and resonator deleted so now if i want to add the j-pipe and test pipe and keep the stock mufflers, will that be okay? do i need to change out my mufflers?

what im trying to say is, is it worth doing all the above and keeping stock mufflers?

thanks a ton fellas!

Kudos from me as well. After reading ATLP is stopping production of their Type S exhaust, seems your setup is the one I will now be going for.

I was told by a "Know it all guy" at work that J-Pipes are illegal in IL and wont pass emissions with a 3rd cat test pipe.

The j-pipe doesn't remove any cats. It is definitely not illegal. Removing cats and replacing it with a test pipe may be in that state. It is in CT.

That's why we recommend a high flow third cat so you can avoid the raspiness of a test pipe and the illegality of removing a cat.
