Exhaust drone!

ok heres what I have 07 Acura tls, PCD, tsudo j pipe, custom cat back 2.5 that y off to 2.25 magnaflow mufflers. I did put the largest resonator from magnaflow 22" I believe. The exhaust note is fantastic no complaints there BUT the drone is pretty bad. Been reading a lot of positive reviews of vibrant brand resonators. Sooooooo my question is do I leave the current resonator on now and add this 12" vibrant one OR just replace the magnaflow one with the vibrant ????

HELP!

22" + 12" = 34" of resonator!

plus, anytime you mess with exhaust...you're experimenting. go forth and experiment with resonators to get what you want

We use Vibrant parts for all of our in shop fabrication, no complaints here! All their parts are quality and we haven't had any issues to date.

Vibrant has "Ultra-Quiet" resonators as well, those have a bigger chamber so they soak up a bit more sound. You can find them, along will all your other resonator options on our site here: Exhaust » Exhaust Fabrication Components - Excelerate's Honda & Acura Store - Japanese Performance Specialist

If you need some help getting setup feel free to send me a PM!

Good luck & happy modding!

My first Accord had terrible drone (header, high flow cat, 2.25" exhaust with resonator and Magnaflow muffler. Ended up having to swap out the muffler for a turbo muffler to get rid of it. Quieted down the car a lot in normal and freeway driving but still had a deep idle and sounded pretty good when I got on it.

Did you ever choose a path to go? I replaced my 10-12" magnalow resonator with a larger 22" magnaflow and that was a waste of money. I am thinking of replacing it with the Vibrant 1141 or with the 10-12" and the Vibrant. Would like to see what you did and how it came out. I have a similar set up - PCD, Jpipe, high flow cat and endless RPM exhaust. Drone is getting old....

I installed the Vibrant ultra quiet and it made a big difference.

Did you install it with the magnaflow resonator as well? So vibrant and magnaflow resonator?

I had the vibrant resonator installed also it lowers the drone a bit but not enough to get rid of it. I had the largest magnaflow resonator before and I just swapped one for the other. My guess is the vibrant resonator PLUS a magnaflow may just do the trick. However the vibrant did remove 99% rasp I had right at 3-4K and made it sound much better. I’m just going to drop the cash on xlr8 cat back, think magnaflow muffler is what causes the drone

Yeah I think endless rpm uses magnaflow mufflers. Might try the dual resonator setup and see how that goes.

I only installed the Vibrant. I don't have any drone at all in my car and have no mufflers. Although I still have rasp from 2000-3500 rpms, that would be due to my Jpipe.

My G35 has 4 total resonators (two on the downpipes aka pre-cat deletes like on our cars), one in the y-pipe and one in the Tanabe exhaust. Like on my '90 Accord, it took changing the straight through muffler design with a turbo style muffler (Dynomax Super Turbo muffler) to put a huge dent in the drone. Still a bit of tip in drone on the freeway, but the really bad drone at 2500 rpm (which was 70 in 6th gear) is about 90% reduced. Just seems to be a common issue with after market exhaust systems regardless of car brand.
