Custom Intake - vacuum line

I'm working on putting in a custom air intake made of aluminum tubing. My current intake and all other intakes have a vacuum hose coming from the intake tube and leading to the back of the engine. Im wondering if I am able to put one of those little breather filters on the engine side of the line or will I have to drill a hole and add a nipple into my aluminum tubing?

Red circle is where I would connect the breather filter to. Blue circle is where I would have to drill into my tubing and make a nipple.

You should be fine using a breather filter there, you see this a lot on K series. Better yet you could add a small catch can. Rather then venting crankcase vapors into the intake you will vent them to atmosphere. Hopefully you don't have to deal with emissions inspection.

Thanks for the reply. I ordered the parts and will update with pictures once it's completed.

May seem like a silly question but just out of curiosity, what would they be looking at that would make it fail emissions? Would the breather filter, or the fact that it's a custom intake with no "carb" sticker? The latter I presume?

this is the fresh air side of the pcv system, which is y the hose is routed to the intake BEFORE the throttle plate. when the plate is closed the front bank draws vapors out of the crankcase under vacuum from the manifold and fresh air is drawn in to replace it through the rear bank via the intake filter tube. a breather will be fine on the rear but im not sure a catch can will help on the rear bank because the vapors aren't ever drawn that direction (unless you count WOT technically where they could go either way bc the throttle plate is fully open and vacuum is low).

i like the catch can idea better. it gives you a better look and you would see if you were losing any oil thru the manifold
