Entire Exhaust System

Im looking to revamp the exhaust with the whole shebang. I want to get the new Rv6 precat deletes when they come out then I want to put on the atlp v2 J-pipe and then the Rv6 resonated test pipe. I want to try to chose the catback that doesnt kill everyones ears. Can anyone suggest anything. I kind of like the greddy evo 2 and the HKS but I think the setup mentioned will just make crazy noise. Im not sure about the xlr8 bcs it goes from 2.5 to 2.25 and Im not quite sure I understand the rationale of that. Can anyone make any suggestions.

First, Welcome to Acurazine!

Second, forum check, if you spend like 5 seconds you see this question has been posted and they are pages about this.

Third, to your question, assuming you have a base TL, you should wait and see if you can get a ATLP Base Exhaust or get the Comptech Exhaust either one you can't go wrong. Perfect sound, not too loud or small. Just get RV6 Jpipe and test pipe also

Before you do anything with your car, I recommend you getting a UR pulley and a RSB! Make your car look fly by getting A SPEC kit and Tein SS drop along with cleared headlights with zkw-r and type-s tails. Than start getting a catback, precats, and jpipe!

I want the tien ss but I want to put my money into performance first. Ur pulley is def on my list as well as the aem cai v2. Ive read through a lot of the threads here and Im just looking specifically for exhaust system notes for people who've replaced all their cats and are running specific exhausts. A lot of other threads Ive seen typically lack a certain delete. For example they will keep there precats but do like a jpipe and 3rd cat deletes. Or they will have precat deletes but use like a hi flow cat to replace their 3rd cat.

Oh btw body kits are a no no for me. I dont want any form of extra weight. Im really interested in the greddy complete ti exhaust systems or the HKS carbon fiber ti exhaust. I want to shed weight everywhere possible but im not sure if these exhausts will even work with my type s.

the only greddy for the TL is the evo2.

i have it and i love it. it sounds so sick. just keep the rpms at 2500 when driving and there is ZERO drone

add the TB spacer and all the gaskets and you are set!

4th gear. 2500rpm = 65mph
3rd gear. 2500 rpm = 42mph

Odd. I'm only at 1700-2000 rpm unless I'm going highway speeds or when I'm accelerating from a stop.

HKS does not make a system for the TL. If you want that you must get a custom exhaust made..

Yea I figured that if I were to buy the cf ti muffler. If I were to get a custom made do you think it would save weight? Also would it produce similar results as pre made ones like the evo2?

It gets confusing following all the exhaust options but, if you add pre-cats to the above mix, no 3rd cat and an aftermarket exhaust, pretty sure you'll want a resonator to avoid drone/rice/fillings falling out.

and Woo, did you pee on my rug?

That may be a challenge to maintain 2500 RPM unless your speed limits are above 70 MPH. At 70 MPH on the interstate I am turning a lot less.
Of course you could downshift and loose the benefit of overdrive (gas efficiency).

Perhaps the Comptech would resolve any concerns about droning on a classy $35K vehicle. Just a thought.

It appears you are defeating the purpose of the second overdrive gear (5th gear) to avoid unpleasant droning. Why not consider an exhaust that works well at various RPMs and gain fuel efficiency... and don't forget, unnecessary wear and tear on your engine. Again, just thoughts... it is your hard earned money.

look up magnaflow and dynomax resonators on this forum

it will still be loud but does kill the drone

Weight Concerns?

I believe Tanabe's catback system will shave off quite a few pounds for you. The main pipe thickness is 1.25mm for reduced weight compared to most other brands. You may want to talk to them. (310) 783-0200.

What is driving your weight loss concerns? TLs are heavy to begin with.

I consistently hit the gym 4-5 times a week to maintain my physique and get the benefit of keeping the vehicle passenger load to a minimum.

What a good way for a weight reduction
