Engine light after CAI install
Engine light after CAI install
Installed an Ingen CAI on the 07 TL-S and everything went fine but got an engine light when I started her up. All the plugs are plugged in... it runs fine... noticeably stronger than before.
There was only one vacuum line that I had to disconnect from OEM and re-connect to the CAI. I only unplugged what I assume is the mass air flow sensor on the throttle body and re plugged that back in.
I did re-locate a ground to mount the vibration mount for the CAI... would that have upset anything to be temporarily disconnected?
Any idea what could be causing the engine light?

You guys HAVE to learn this "trick":
If you're doing a mod that requires a sensor to be disconnected, disconnect the NEG battery terminal before you start.
Just make sure you have the NAVI and RADIO codes.
When done, reconnect all lines, senosrs, etc, then reconnect the battery. Start her up. Voila, NO Check Engine Light.
IF you do have a CEL, it's probably a forgotten/missed reconnection or a loose connection.

I did CAI last week - NO CEL.
Intake Manifold Gasket today (that's 5 or 6 sensors/solenoids disconnected) - NO CEL.

But the code will stay in diag memory unless you go find it and kill it.
My point is don't get the CEL in the first place. Takes, like, 30 "extra" seconds.

Thanks guys... I did the reset and all is good now. I was surprised how long it took the Navi to re-initialize. Next time I will disconnect the battery before doing any mods.
On the CAI topic I am surprised at how quiet the Ingen is compared to AEM in my CLS. The design looks pretty similar, but my AEM really howls at Vtec and beyond. I don't think that the Ingen sacrifices and HP gains though as it seems to have much more zip at the top end.
With my Ingen kit came some advertizing for a "hydro shield". It looks like a bag that you put around the filter. Anyone have any experience with these?
On a side note I had to take my CLS out for a spin after testing out the install on the TLS... pretty damn fast for an auto. I think the CLS-6 is still faster but I will never have the chance to line them both up and try.

Didn't know that there was a Navi code.
