Ebay intake

hey guys, i saw this intake on ebay and for the price i was actually thinking about doing it, iv read alot about intakes and was going to choose the AEM V2 cold air intake. only problem i see with this is heat soak but really its still just straight pipe with a filter..check this out and let me know what you guys think.....http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACURA-RL-TL-TYPE-S-BASE-3-2-3-2L-3-5-3-5L-V6-COLD-AIR-INTAKE-2004-2005-2008-RED-/280772577294?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &fits=Year%3A2004|Make%3AAcura|Model%3ATL&vxp=mtr& hash=item415f59880e

Use a different filter. Also, it's probably not legal in your state. So you might have to remove it when performing the annual smog check.

I would bet money the OEM intake & filter make more power AND filter better than that thing.

If you think about it, the OEM filter is designed to flow enough air for the motor at WOT. How do you think Honda can build a 2-liter motor that lays down 240hp? Did you know the S2000 had highest specific output of any production car right up untill the Ferrari 360 Modena (I think). I'm pretty sure Honda knows how to build intakes.

Now those expensive aftermarket intakes make power not from "cold air", but from resonate frequency tuning. That is they build the pipe in a specific diameter and length so that the pressure waves from the closing intake valves helps to pressurize the intake runners. This takes lots of dyno testing of different pipe lengths and configurations to get an end result that produces a torque bump at the mid-range (for street use). I guess my point is, if you aren't going to pay for the expensive intake (that still lets in more dust), just leave it stock.

awesome thanks guys, i think im either going to do the AEM v2 or the Injen Cai cold air, both seem to have the best reviews just a little costly.

Someone shot it once with a bb-gun at 5:30am. I still wonder if it's because it's so damn loud.

And I drive as quiet as possible in the mornings too.

I agree with you on most of the points, but the s2000 has a GREAT air intake system. Our cars have a fairly good one as well, but thats comparing apples to oranges.

Not sure. I very rarely sell parts on ebay and we didn't list these on there. These are just some leftover intakes we bought from a while ago that I just want to get rid of.
