Dyno testing my mods with Iphone apps
Anyone using the Iphone to test their mod improvements? I made some runs using Dynolicious, but today I downloaded a new app that is supposed to be the bomb. Torqued.
My mods...
P2R
ATLP exhaust
K&N Typhoon
Pulse plugs
Dynolicious run
#1 - 7.06 sec 0-60, lots of tire spin. 1/8 mile 12.95@88.4 mph
#2 - 6.06 sec 0-60, better take off, but not great. 1/8 mile 12.19 sec@95.2 mph

There was vid in the main forum on the Dynolicious app and I think someone in 4G did some runs as well.
Somthing is wrong with your's though - those eighth mile times/speeds are whack; 95.2 is a quarter mile speed.
Times at the 1/8th should be mid/high 9's (say 9.4 - 9.8) and speed mid 70's (say 73 - 77).

The run results you got should be enough to tell you that these are FAR from accurate. You are NOT running 12 second quarter mile times. So far as comparing a new mod to a base run though....you surely could use it to guage if you gained or not...but thats about it.
He posted those as 1/8th mile numbers. Still whack, either way.

I'd say that's a fair approximation. Should be good enough for and idea of how much a "before mod"/"after mod" difference there is.
It'd be nice to compare the app times to strip times (and use the scale at the strip to input into the app) - jsut for you to have a sense of the error/variance.
This goes back to my original statement, anyone who knows anything about racing laughs at this stuff.
I could see a place for it if it was inaccurate but consistant but it's not even consistant enough to compare before and after mods.
I'll put it this way, if I went by numbers from these gadgets, I would be driving a 9.70 car, not a 10.60 car.
It's not, none of them ever are. Only a dragstrip is right. I've been down the strip with different models of G-techs and others and none of them are close. The mph is always very high no matter what the model.

Supposedly, Dynolicious >> G-Tec (at least check the vid)
Im new around here. I have an Anthracite 06 Navi automatic. Love the car.
Anyways I bought the |Dynolicious app for my iphone a few days ago. For those not familiar with this app, according to most reviews, when calibrated properly, it gives you near drag strip accuracy.
See this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-DFbJQbeSY
Anyways, I did calibrate it and have run it 5 times.
Just 0-60mph.
No torque launches or anything, just floored it.
My 0-60mph times have been consistent across the board.
0-60mph -average of 6.81 seconds.
I think thats not bad for a dead stock TL.
Dynolicious is amazing, if anyone is pondering whether to blow their $13, I recommend it, its fun and simply satisfies my curiousity about how fast my car really is.

New app
There's a new app out that beats dynolicious. The new one is done by gearheads a pulls the factory stats. it also data exchanges the other users so you can compare what other TL owners who use the app are doing and see what you want to mod next.
Interesting tool. I haven't made a run with it yet.
