Don't Shoot Me!!! 3G Headers

i know this has probably been brought up before, but looking for the past hour with no results, plus i am tired and at work so i will just get to the point. i am looking at having custom headers made for my car, is there anyone out there that has done this or knows of a company that makes them for our cars.

nope, not really since the headers aer welded on.

supposedly, the touring TL had headers and they had to hack em off and weld on new ones.

i thought headers were always bolted on so that in case you needed to remove the engine you could remove them to make it much easier to get the engine out. sorry if i am wrong this is the way that i have always seen it, i hav not really looked at the exhaust manifold on this car to actually see if it were possible.

There are precats bolted right up to the exhaust manifolds on the heads, if you want to get better flow get some high flow cats. These are pretty much like "headers" for our cars.

The 'headers' on our cars are cast into the head, not welded, correct?

I think that you are right. Welding of such complex part as cylinder head is quite an undertaking. I am not sure would previous generation cylinder head fit, but they had conventionally bolted headers.

i just looked at the engine/exhaust system, and thought that maybe you could start custom piping from where the O2 sensor is at, it looks like the piping where the O2 sensor is at, bolts up to the cylinder head, all you would have to do is ensure you place threading on the new downpipe to accomodate for the O2 sensor. i am just shooting ideas around to see what is possible, what do you think about this idea.
