Couple questions about an Injen SRI for my '04 TL 5AT

Hey everyone

First and foremost I would like wish everyone a Happy New Year, and I hope this year brings bright new things for everyone.

During mt free time I was shopping around for performance parts for my car and stumbled across this short ram intake by Injen on amazon. I don't know what the part number is and there are no reviews on it. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on this part, in terms of durability, worth buying(I'm simply doing this for sound; not too hype on CAI for hp, 270hp is enough for DD) performance in terms of MPGs, material, and the shape (it doesn't look like it will fit in my engine bay properly).

Please let me know if you can answer any of the above. Thanks.

270hp? Maybe you should sit down for this...

Why do I need to sit down? If I feel that's relevant horsepower for my daily driving then so be it. I asked if anyone knows anything about this SRI. I didn't ask for your smartass remarks

The TL doesn't have 270HP... It's 258HP despite what you've read. I forgot what year it started I think it was 2006, but the testing method to see how much HP a motor has changed and that's why it went from 270HP to 258HP.

The new testing method gives much more accurate HP ratings.

A lot of new comers come onto the forums talking about how their TL has 270HP and they don't understand why it's actually 258 and not 270... The Type-S on the other hand has 286

because you don't have 270hp in your automatic 04 acura tl.

also, don't get that SRI. leave your intake alone.

the factory intake system is more beneficial than a short ram intake.

if you're looking for more sound; try removing the factory intake resonator first.
if not enough sound; get a cold air intake.

Short ram = HOT ram intake.

You'll be lucky to see 210whp. Manuals will show better results.

Well I've removed the factory exhaust resonator (midpipe) and it does sound a bit louder, a bit like a 350Z. I will try the resonator from the intake. Will it affect MPGs at all?

I have heard there are quality issues on the filters in the cheaper kits like the one you linked.

Idk if TLs have different stock intake setups than Accords but I installed the K&N typhoon intake and it feels like it flows better than the stock intake. Nothing huge obviously but it was noticeable, plus it sounds much better I also liked the cold air intake vs the short ram (the K&N can be converted between the two)

Used intakes can be found for cheap ($80-$130) that are good quality.

Jb- I have had the Injen Cold air intake on my accord for 10 years now and love it. I have the injen/amsoil nano filter dry filter. Great combo IMO. Pass on the short ram as the guys state here.
