Cost Effective
Cost Effective
I have a base 3.2 acura tl, furthermore I want to modify the performance and want to know what is the best steps to process. For example what should I change first to get best HP improvements for the cost. Please let me know and example brands and types to look into.
Everyone will tell you to search search search. It plays over like a script, every week someone new will ask the same questions.
Anyone who answers your question would probably say a J-pipe is the best value for performance.

And just to forewarn you; if your car is an automatic, you can do all the N/A bolt ons and still be slower than a stock 6MT base model. And if your car is an '04-06 5AT, you still don't have a reliable tuning option to smooth out the issues caused by the bolt ons, so it's not the best platform for modding. Just something to consider.

acurazine search is broken you have to use google and then type acurazine and XXXXX.
You cannot search for specific cars so stop bitching about searching
Pcd/hfpc. Jpipe. Pulley these are the best bang for the buck. Everything else comes secondary in terms of price/hp (butt dyno)

3.7 liter Acura engine intake manifold and throttle body. I have the 3.7 manifold from the 4G TL-SHAWD and the throttle body from the Acura ZDX (bored by Maxbore). When paired with ported runners and a 4" intake, the gains are solid.
HFPC are high flow 200-300 cell primary cats (which I recommend over PCDs since they don't generate as much if any rasp) PCD's are straight pipes which replace the primary cats. You'll get a couple more HP from PCDs at the expense of rasp and funky smell. You can negate the power disadvantage of the HFPCs by removing 20-30 lbs from the car!
Seriously though, start searching and you'll be reading for days. There's tons of info on here.

1 ) Aem Intake ( v1 or v2 , search the Black Market and find a used one and put a new Aem filter on )
2) PCD'S : Rv6 is the Only Brand " Currently " producing them. Also there was someone who was mentioning he was going to get a atlp v2 j-pipe and gut the Stock Pre Cats and 3rd cat. Not too sure if anyone has done that ???
3) J-pipe : XLR8 V2 - Wicked build matterial, and the gains are SOLID. I just put one on, will be doing a write up soon...
4) Cat back - Either XLR8 or build a custom one.
The XLR8 one is amazing though. Sounds nice, awesome build matterials & fits perfect.
5) XLR8 V2 stock diameter Pulley
6) XLR8 Engine mounts. If you plan on staying stock ( as in just bolt-ons ) just get the 62A version.
7) Suspension : Again it's up to you ; Spring/Shocks ? I would say Neuspeed/h&r with Koni Yellows.
Want a coil over ? Ground Control / Koni Yellow or Tein Basics or if you want adj. Tein Street Advance.
At that point you should be over 250whp.
Decide what you want to do. Keep it as is, add some more n/a goodies. Or go Forced Induction ; Nitrous, Supercharger or Turbo.
If you decide to stay N/a, replace your clutch with a fresh oem unit ( or a mild Clutch Masters etc ) and Light Weight flywheel.
Do the 3.7 Intake Manifold swap with the Acura Zdx Throttle Body.
Contact Bisimoto for some Custom CamShafts & GET HONDATA. Im sure you will be at about 280whp-290whp at that point. Keep in mind though , the cost of ; Hondata, Bisi Cams & the full 3.7IM/TB swap will prob cost you around the same price as a used Comptech Supercharger on the Black Market. And if you were fully bolted with the Supercharger you would be making MUCH more power vs Hondata, bisi cams & 3.7im/tb. You'd prob be at about 330whp even with the crappy Acm unit ( which you could use temp. b4 saving up for Hondata )
Anyways thats my suggestions....
It really depends what you want out of the TL.
Welcome to AcuraZine and Happy Building
