Comptech Sway Bars
Comptech Sway Bars
I noticed most people are just getting the rear sway bars and when I was looking at a group buy for Comptech sway bars, I noticed that they sold both front and rear.
I'm new to this so I was wondering (1) are the sway bars worth it and what can I expect performance-wise and (2) should you get both front and rear...why or why not.
Thanks for the help!

As far as I know comptech doesn't make a front sway bar for the 3G. If you have an AT like myself the sway bar is worth every penny. Do a search and you will find many nice write ups on how to install the sway bar yourself. I did mine in 45mins, I would have done in about 25-30 mins but my wife was scared because I was under the car and she kept checking on me. We had a friend die because he didn't use jack stands, and the car fell on him, so ever since she has been a freak about me working on the car.
u wont notice a big diff on 6mt?

I have an AT with stock suspension and the Comptech RSB. I can feel the improved handling with the RSB. The only minor drawback is the occasional "thud". I've removed the bar 2 times, greased the bushings, retightened the bolts and still get that "thud". I guess that's the sound of improved handling.

I've had the RSB for about 3 weeks now. I slurged and bought the Mobil 1 synthetic grease ($8/can). The "thud" is less noticable with the grease but still there. I've read over on a TSX thread someone using plumber's thread tape.

let's just say it makes a huge difference in MT as well.

I've been thinking about getting a Comptech RSB but this is the first I've heard anything about greasing them up. What exactly do you grease? The linkages? And is that part of the typical install or just something some people are doing as an extra precaution? Is it really necessary to add grease at all?

However, as far as I know they are NOT polyurethane. They are rubber. Anyone else wnat to chime in?

right after i installed the sway bar i had a lot of squeaking from the rear when i would go over speed bumps...got to the point where it was really annoying. i pulled the swaybar off and greased the hell out of everything...no more noise now.

Man, Acura Carland must be on crack. They gave me a quote of $340 plus tax installed!
And only $230 if I supply the part!
Are they insane. Hell I'll look elsewhere in Atlanta for a less expensive install of this part.

DIY...instructions are in the 3G Garage...hell, here's the link...scroll down to section D, Tires/Wheels/Suspension/Etc...look for DIY Comptech Swaybar. I swapped mine out when I installed my ASPEC suspension...it's not hard at all.

The independent shop I've been doing business with for years did it in 7½ minutes once the car was up on the lift, $40. Just make sure they torque the bolts correctly.
