Why not ditch the idea all together? Its expensive, time consuming , and the argument could go on for days. Just slap a killer water-alchohol injection kit on it, one with its own controller,(theyve come a long way) and enjoy the benifits and your car at the same time. Youle get the gain you want, no intercooler or piping to worry about and you dont have to deal with debris hitting your intercooler???

The project is done already, just waiting on a dyno....

You won't get the same gains from just alky. I've done both, together and separately. I would always do intercooler first and then alky. Nothing wrong with the alky and it's much better than nothing but IC will win.

Hello All:

Is this mod ready for prime time?

Does it help the performance of the car?

If so, in what area?

What are the parts needed and the approx costs?

Thanks,

Tim

It's a TANK!! I'm very proud of the way it's holding up. Whenever it fails, i'm going to display it in a glass case and build a worship temple around it..probably place it in my garage whenever i decide to buy a house.

How many miles you got on that bad boy? I know I read somewhere you were about to break 100K but thought it might be a joke.

That's simply incredible.

It's an 04 right?

I wish I could say the same about my transmission, it's feeling weaker and weaker as the months roll by.

What kind of transmission fluid have you been using?

Wow very impressive. Says a lot after the CL tranny.

You thinking of servicing the SC?

Yeah 04. I've been using the amsoil ATF mixed with the honda ATF. It's probably about that time to add some more.

Yeah i'm very impressed with the tranny considering the countless twanny replacements in the second gen CLs/TLs.

The supercharger oil should probably be replaced as well. I wonder how i go about doing that!

Are you doing a mixture of the two every time you service or do you just have some leftovers from previous changes? Very interesting, probably not a bad idea if you're mixing them.

People keep saying it's the fastest TL here... It may LOOK like the fastest, but you guys recall this thing is a 5AT right?

I'm quite confident there's quite a few 6MT supercharged guys out there that could take on the space shuttle victoriously... Wings, roll cage, splitters, gold foil and all.

Sorry E, I had to get the ribbing in there. When's the 6MT conversion coming?

I do have a dyno now! types-09 should have a video of it as well.

The conditions were: ~85 degrees, very humid, 120,000 miles on the motor, 7,000 miles since last oil change.

She put down a whopping 265whp, and i think around 225 lbs torque.

The run before mine was my buddies integra typeR, he put down 525whp. But the difference between his car and mine was that the TL was mobile at the end of the day, and the integra...immobile. Something went wrong inside the tranny. But he also took home a $500 check for winning the most horsepower gained from stock.

The motor isn't putting down anywhere near the amount of power that it should be, and that will be taken care of, so don't worry guys.

If you would have mounted your supercharger quicker, you could have proved your statement. I drove up to your neck of the woods TWICE this year and no sight of kennedy. It's a crying shame, my friend. You could have went the whole nine yards and videotaped the 5AT supercharged spaceshuttle getted raped by your 6MT monster. I was actually hoping you would come see the intercooler setup first hand that it does indeed work.

Don't worry about your dyno numbers. The more power you make with the auto, the more torque convertor slippage you get and it throws the calculations off. Take it to the track and you will probably be very surprised at what "only" 265 hp will get you. Like I've mentioned before with our GNs and loose convertors, some dyno only low 400s and run 10s.

That's pretty impressive to run in the 10s with 400whp! Torque wins i'm sure. As for the 265whp on the dynojet, i'm not too worried. On the road it gets the job done. It's not a bat out of hell, but it can keep up with some of the big boys on the road.

I met a gentleman in MD back in April and he told me he builds Jseries motors. He told me he's working on a J40. I've got his business card, so maybe i'll give him a call.

I don't know about all that raping and what not...

It is a shame though... Seems my wife and kids seem to always find higher priorities than "stupid car shows"... my feelings are officially hurt, though.

Next trip north, PM me... I'll be there... seriously.

The duct in the passenger lower-grill is a braking duct right?
Was wondering how is it set up to the wheels? Do you have it for the back 2, the front 2 or all 4s?

Well if wife and kids is your excuse, you sure have put in some wrench time with thousands of posts...surely a lot of hours have been spent behind your computer screen...clowning peoples ideas about intercooling a damn comptech supercharger and what not. Why don't you come up with another excuse. Maybe you should spend less time on here and go take your family to a car show or something.

Yeah thats a brake duct. I've got one on each side now. I simply used zipties to secure the ducts to the frame and suspension components, which keeps it away from contact with the tire. I bent the dust shield back and secured the end of the hose to it, so the air runs directly to the backside of the rotor.

A lot of the race teams have sworn that without the brake cooling ducts, the pads fatigue a lot quicker without the ductwork.

eric maybe you should get in contact with nascar and help them

it does in fact work... and has been proven, they sell little stickable thermometers... you go for a run, then isntall brake ducts then go for another run... temperature readings dropped tremendously

If you want to DIY this thread could be of some help:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...charger+reseal

The process is very doable and the supply cost is reasonable.

Props to your IC setup

Interesting. My brakes work great..... for a while. I would love to do this cheap mod if it makes a difference. Just out of curiosity do you know where the temp readings were taken? Caliper? I've got a temp gun that you point at a surface and it tells the temps. If I could set up a repeatable test, I might try this out with data. This could be my poor man's Brembos lol.

Nah, point being they're making quite a bit more than 400 but as the TC slips more, the hp calculations are thrown off. You're probably making a bit more than 265hp. I know it's too late now but you could've done some 75%, 80%, etc throttle runs to see if the numbers change. I know once I started pushing through my convertor my car made 400ish at 18psi and at 28psi even though it was faster in real life at the higher boost.

I'll get to a meet soon, We had a new one this year (14 months now).you'll never understand how socially crippling a babay is until you have one.

no more family/baby talk here though... just more clowning.

truth.

Saturday is daddy's wrench day...
... and I'm an IT manager dude, live on the internet at work. After almost 3 years here during the work week, you rack up a few post.

I'll get to a meet soon, We had a new one this year (14 months now).you'll never understand how socially crippling a babay is until you have one.

no more family/baby talk here though... just more clowning.
I do hope to meet soon though.
Kennedy, I gotta say, your last few posts, lauging at Eric and his numbers on the dyno saying you were gonna spank him with your 6mt. regardless of the rollcage, goldtape, etc. is kinda fucked up......

I am on the sidelines reading this but from what can see, he is not pleased with your harsh comments.
Eric is in a class of his own regardless of the dyno numbers. He has a look like no other. Maybe I am wrong by saying anything. Eric loves his car and what he has done to it. He has made his car a unique machine that no one has balls to do.

His car is a daily driver with over 100k of trouble free miles. That goes a lot farther than most cars that need to be towed home after a few races.
