Cold start = early shift????

On a cold start my Tl on WOT will give an early shift of 5,800 RPMS.. automatic transmission. I still make it to 40mph in first gear but if I tune the ecu would that make a change in performance W/ out power adders???

Yep. its about a 2 min creep to a 3 mile straight every morning on the way to work. Right after WOT 1st -3rd the engine gets hot and shifts back to normal at about 6800

Easy fix, Don't WOT when the engine is cold.

In answer to your question, the reason for early shifts is your ecu, trying to prevent excessive wear to the drivetrain while everything is still cold. If it were possible to extend this shift point on a cold start, it would only allow for more friction and premature wear.

Even if you're not reaching redline, going WOT right after a cold start is still a bad idea. To prevent excessive drivetrain wear, one should use minimal throttle until all the drivetrain components and fluids have reached operating temps.

That being said, I'll take a page out of Southernboy's book here.
Your car is your property and nobody on here can tell you what to do with it. If you don't mind replacing expensive drivetrain components a few years down the road, then by all means - drive it like you stole it.
We're just here to offer some well-intentioned advice.

It's best to keep your RPM's under 3.5K MAX when the car is below operating temperatures. Cold oil doesn't protect as well as warm oil and thus will cause wear on the cylinders and cylinder walls. Furthermore it can damage the rings on the pistons from them being run that hard with no lubrication.

your car is trying to prevent you from spinning a bearing or warping the block. Remember the termo doesn't open during cold start. It needs to warm up the whole block first. As for the oil it has not gotten to all the place that it needs to be yet.
