Thanks, I may be just buying the comptech compressor kit instead. I know once I've installed the CAI and pully/s it just won't cut it.

I'm yet to buy an intake system, but I'm sure it just relocates the IAT to an area for less temperature. Lower temperature = denser air. denser air = more fuel.

If your intake system has the CARB numbers on it, It's mainly to cover your ass if you were to get pulled over and have your hood popped. The police need to see a CARB eo# on any performance related modification to ensure the vehicle remains within SMOG regulation. The officer won't know the specific location for an IAT sensor, much less may not know what IAT is or what it stands for.

Ebay overall is an excellent site for purchasing new goods at a low price. Look for experienced sellers who have lots of good feedback and you should be okay.

I had the same problem too with vibrations after installing the CAI. Michael Benz had suggested adjusting the mounting position because it could be in contact with wires and such. I did just that and the vibration is gone. I also cut the breather hose down a little because it was bending at an angle and looked like some air could have been restricted.

IAT stands for Intake Air Temperature. It's a sensor that measures the Temperature of the intake air.

Just purchased the AEM CAI off ebay for $199.00 shipped (or something very close to that). There is a 10% off coupon on www.slickdeals.net that you can use towards any paypal purchase on ebay. Save another $20.00. (up to $25.00 savings allowed).

hey subinf...does the offset on the magnaflow mufflers matter? did you just go center/center? and you said you removed the mid-muffler and replaced it with pipe...what diameter pipe? where does the resonator go?

I am currently leasing the TL, and if i install the CAI is it reversible at the end of the lease? Is it possible to put the stock air intake back?

you might have to replace the resonator depending on ur route of install because u have to drill out some rivets....but for the most part yes its reversible

THere are two rivets that you drill out... and if you do it the right way (I.E. use a drill bit smaller than the diameter of the rivets) then you can salvage the holes the rivets are in and use screws in the future for re-fixation of the resonator box when you go back to OEM.

Can someone take some pics of the rivets? or some pics of the whole process?

Cleaning CAI

Does anyone have any issues cleaning the CAI? I had it on my Prelude and it was a pain to have to jack the car up, remove the wheel liner and then remove the filter.

I was thinking about a short ram intake for convenience and ease of mind. I remember having to turn around a couple of times when the streets were flooded in the city underpasses. Anyone have experiences with the short ram?

Has anyone installed the bypass valve on the CAI?

That is the hard part...you have just described the easiest access there is to the filter. This is good and bad.....bad for ease of service...good for the fact that it is very isolated within the bumper assembly cavity so it isnt HUGELY succeptable to water problems. If high water is a problem.....not sure you should be driving through water that high anyway? In my area...when there is flooding like that (and I have a street right behind my house that floods from a creek very regularly) if you drive through stuff like this...you are begging to be drug off the streetway in the current. I actually DID see a kid hydrolock his car in this situation....sat and watched him drive in it....car stopped IMMEDIATELY....and then I sat at the waters edge and watched him PUSH his car to the edge where I then helped him. He had installed a CAI and after seeing this...I just laughed at him. Damn, if you saw this water.....you would have really wondered if he was sane! That the only time I have seen a water problem on one of these things.....but damn....the kid was begging for it. Must have thought he was Jesus or something and could walk/drive on water! After you saw what he drove through....you couldnt help but laugh....especially after seeing the CAI. He left the car sit all night until the next day, apparently so his parents wouldnt also question his sanity when they saw what he drove though.
