Talking Aspec Scorched Brake Pads

IS There REALLY a BIG difference between using Stock Brake Pads vs. the ASPEC SCORCHED BRAKE PADS?

The only reason why I ask....is I am upgrading to the Bigger size 18 inch...rim...and I've read about the Aspec Brake Pads on this forum, but no real responses if they MAKE A DIFFERENCE since you have a bigger rim......

any .....opiinions????

Thanks,

Tai

I have a set on hand of the scorched A-spec pads for install as soon as the originals go out. From what I understand they are superior pads...scorching the pads eliminates the need for "bedding in the brakes" and offers a more consistent braking right from the start. Scorching effects the "green behaviors" of the pad and cooks off many of the adhesives, ect that may be present. Here is a small pasted snippet...

All PAGID OE compound brake pads are 'scorched', which is a thermal treatment during our manufacturing process. After the friction material is pressed onto the backing plate the disc brake pads all go through a heat-treating process (thermal treatment) in an oven where heat of about 900 degrees Celsius is applied to the friction surface. During this process some of the fillers, caouthouc, and resins are also burned out which sometimes will create 'holes' or 'craters' on the surface. Some repair shops which are not aware of this process sometimes think that the brake pad material is defective, whereas this is an advantage to the PAGID disc brake pads. Our scorching process will prevent glazing of the friction material when it is getting bedded in. As a matter of fact the bedding in of PAGID OEM brake pads is not required. The bedding in was already done at our plant and the PAGID OEM brake pads have the needed stable co-efficient of friction.

The one negative that I have heard of but not experienced yet (not installed yet), is that they dust a bit more than the stockers also.

my theory....

unless their cheaper, why pay more...unless you're doing some major autox/track use, regular pads will do fine for the ordinary joe....

They definately do give alot of dust. I will clean my car on monday and by wendsday they will be dirty. I dont like the fact that the rims get dirty quick because of upgrade pads.
