The project is not dead, I've just had more pressing issues at hand. I still have the parts to build 6 beta units and have been running without a CEL for about a month now. Once the other issue is resolved, I'll get back to the O2 module project and get the beta units sent out.

Not to take sides but he gets everything he is capable of done as fast as he can. When you deal with special projects such as yours it sucks because you have to deal with other people to get stuff done, testing and maybe he was being dicked around by darlton. I hate it when I tell my customers a week and then I do all the work to order the supplies, but the supplies comes damaged. Then I have to tell the customer to wait until the company fixes the problem and with pressure from the customer it really makes me aggravated and distraught not knowing a deadline. Think about it, special cars from mercedes you have to wait a year or two for them to build, maybe his responses were too promising but that stems from a great guy personality. He loves to get thinks done fast and keep people happy, but like he said there really is only so much time in a day. I have been waiting a while now and will wait because rushing things isn't the key either. I hope everything works out, but I think it will because he really is a stand up guy. I went with his services, and was skeptical but with about 10 or more people I know with his builds and his reputation I had no hesitation. I drive 4 hours each way to his shop, and really don't know of anyone that is as good as him with our particular cars. I also hope you don't sell the car because it will be a beast with the new engine no matter where you get it and would love to hear about the power and this beta chip.

IHC for 7K there probably is little to nothing profit. He buys all top notch products and has done R&D for years, even on his own car. To each his own and you really can't satisfy everyone. I was really surprised when you said him because he always answers my questions, helps me out and really is a great guy and if ACURAZINE has done one thing for me, it was leading me to him and his work.

^^^ That's fine. To each his own, but when it's your money on the line and it's you getting jerked around, it's a completely different story.

And just for the record, it's never been a matter of the money. It's been about the common courtesy of giving your clients a completion date. I'd have GLADLY paid more if I thought it meant getting the damn thing completed.

I'm glad things are getting worked out.. I think all of us can empathize for both sides of the story. Too bad it had to be aired out here.

I'm not in this debate. I didn't even realize it was Paul that he was talking about till now. I'm not going to argue pricing either. 7K will get you a lot of nice stuff. I have no idea what Paul was doing besides a stroker motor. It's fine to demand a premium for the R&D. I made the mistake of posting all of my R&D 10 years ago on an internet forum and it made someone very wealthy. Never again, so I do understand some of the price.

Have a tracking number for 25lbs worth of stuff. Probably pistons, rods, my timing belt/water pump kit, and a couple of other small items.

This must be your first engine build? I had a custom 2.8L race engine made in California for my old STi (one of maybe 3 in the world at the time, I'm sure more people have taken my lead) and one of the most reputable Subaru tuners / shops on the east coast was doing the swap. That build took FOREVER. I demanded pics, updates etc. that never came and finally just gave up asking. The motor arrived like 8 months later, and was worth the wait. But by then I had lost interest in the project due to my severe ADD. For custom built motors by companies who are in huge demand and are dealing with outside suppliers of parts, you have to expect to wait for a while.

The big difference between you and I is that there was no way in hell I was going to pay up front because I knew they were going to dance around and take forever on the build. New lesson learned, cash on delivery or no cash at all.

@WRXtranceformed

I've actually built a few engines myself, but we're building a house at the moment and everything is sort of in discord so it's much easier to have someone else handle it.

I went totally off of reputation, and since it's not a large shop, I figured there's no way he'd want to front that sort of money. So I thought I'd be nice and send everything up front.

@Inaccurate

I did see that, but I haven't had time to test it myself. I'm also pretty reluctant to burn up any more $100+ sensors for R&D.

Bmeyer I actually have it hooked up testing it out so let's see how it goes I also offered the free dyno time to user who found out the way to get it working I don't mid as if this turns out good it will be beneficial for all of us and maybe a lot more people will get the turbo kits wishing ....
Bmeyer about how long does those sensors usually last you in testing before they go ?

If the wires are hooked up incorrectly, they'll go as soon as you start feeding it too much voltage. If you're trying to tune the car on a dyno and are able to hit, say 11.0:1, you would know by that point. The car would immediately throw a CEL.

If it's only an O2 sensor, the car would still behave fairly normal, but would probably be running too rich. Some CEL's cause the car to limit the revs, but the O2 related ones don't seem to have that effect.

I started tuning it yesterday street tuning so far Ive logged about a 100 miles driveabilty is good the only good I do generate is bank one bank two too rich but that's because we do not have the blower on the car at the moment but everything is still on it like fuel pump crush regulator and bigger injectors ,but once I either put stock units back in I'll be fine ,or bolt the blower which is going on next week sometime as I'll be travelling this week no time , I'll also get on the dyno as I want to test this on a n/a and boosted car and also the TypeS which I know will work ....

Update on the engine saga - The parts arrived today, minus the pistons. I was however charged for pistons, so I'll assume it was a minor oversight and that I will have a tracking number for those within the week.

Other than that, it looks like I received everything as well as a refund for services not completed.

Actually, there was 9 packages that got shipped out. THe cams and pistons are in the 9th box which is in transit. According to tracking information it is in Maryland which is weird since they all went out on the same day. Here is the tracking number for it, 1Z52T9V5A899926050

Can you guys call UPS and initiate a trace on the package? They won't even talk to the receiver.

Thanks for checking into it. If it doesn't show up by 7 p.m. CST I'll let you know. That's the latest local delivery time. They should be able to do something after that.

Nothing from UPS as of 7 p.m. CST. Can you guys try to call and initiate a 'trace' tomorrow morning?

Also, were the packages insured?

^ I was told by them to wait until this evening. I can not do it this morning as I have to go to WORK. They are not going to tell me anything different than they did last night when I called until it's been at least 24 hours. I insured all of them, why do you think you have to sign for them all.

The pistons & cams did show up after starting a trace on them through UPS. So to close out the issue, all parts were received and a refund was sent for services not completed. Everything is squared up.

^ thanks... I would love to have this done without any magic black box. I need to do some more searching. Ideally J&R ECU would be awesome, but I don't have 1400 to spend ;(
