Cheap 1st mods

I recently got a 2007 Acura TL Type S and was wondering what cheap(er) first mods I should do to it.

define cheap.
define your budget.
define what mods you want to do.

you can add a $2.00 air freshner to your car.. that would be a mod that is cheap.

I would like an exhaust, steering wheel, gear lever(5at), various interior trim rapped and maybe a steering wheel. Anywhere under $750 is cheep in my mind.

well, those things you want, may not be under $750....
they may, but you will have to look at the used market.

if you want brand new...
you can look at
www.heeltoeauto.com
https://xlr8performance.com/acura

the things you want may or may not be under $750

Step 1: Never mod a car until maintenance is completed. Flush out old fluids (oil, trans, power steering, brakes) and do filters, plugs, belts, etc. Did the car come with maintenance records of when the rubber timing belt was done? That's a big deal.

Step 2: Drive the car and feel it out to decide what you want improvement on. Do you want sharper handling, shorter stopping, or faster acceleration?
There's aftermarket upgrades for all 3 of these things, but coincidentally these same 3 things are all improved hugely by the following two critical mods:
a. 4 new ultra-high-performance all season tires,
and..
B. Upgrade the nut behind the wheel - a better driver does more with less.

Step 3: You need a much bigger budget for this car, which I am just now figuring out is kind of a Japanese BMW. I'm at triple your budget in maintenance alone and haven't hit the new tires step yet.

We are getting an oil change on Saturday, 14. Plugs, and trans were done at I believe 160,000 so. I want more speed for starters.

My opinion, I'd do brakes (rotors and pads) because that's important regardless of what you're trying to improve. Then I'd do tires for speed increase. There are definitely other ways to add speed but if the thing that's literally connecting you to the road sucks, it won't matter too much.

Also everything I hear about coldair intake is that it's a waste of money, so I'd avoid that regardless of price. Maybe get some coilovers afterwards?

Speed + cheap + 3G TL don't go well together.

I'd say save for a bit & do a few things at once, otherwise you won't notice much off individual mods. If you do your own work & sniff out some deals, you could have some fun with $1000-1500.

- Lightweight crank pulley (stock size, not undersized)
- Intake
- J37 intake manifold/Throttle body
- Ported runners
- Pre cat deletes (PCD's)

You'll feel a nice bump in power & mostly everything you should be able to find used at a decent price. After that invest in Hondata to tie it all together.

You'd be right around 300whp & able to hurt some feelings (within reason).

Would an exhaust help at all. I’m looking at a XLR8 catted exhaust?

You're 20...
the cheapest mod to make your Type S fast (that I'd gladly give you) is my 3rd car, a 1990 civic dx hatch for a week.
drive that, FOR FREE, then I'll give your 07 Type S back and watch how happy you'll be with how fast I just made it for you.

It doesn’t have anything g to do with making it faster but the progress rear sway bar is an amazing mod and only around 160-175. Although you already have type s sway bars so not as huge of a difference but still a improvement might have to research if it souls be good for you.
did you mean resonated because all the catback exhaust systems for this car are catted unless you meant getting a j pipe that deletes the third car which will give a little power or pcd’s/hfp’s which will also give a little power

Stock tl type s vs 2012 base TL FBO, TUNED

my car is the silver 2007 acura TL type s that you can see and the point of view is from the back window on the 2012 TL 3.5 short ram intake, j37 intake plenum, j37 throttle body, throttle body spacer, intake plenum spacer, pre cat deletes, j pipe, and 3” from the j pipe back, Lightweight crank pulley, egr valve block plate, and it’s tuned on a k tuner, i don’t think the results are worth the amount of money put into the 4th gen car, it barley pulls away from me.
i’m fully aware he could a few more thing N/A like getting the port runners done but what do would it take for me to pull on him? i found a good deal on some unused HFPC with all bolts and brackets for $80 and i’m debating on jumping on it... do y’all think it’s worth it? i mean that’s a good price for cats in the first place! i also know just hfpc won’t do much alone but it’s a good step towards a faster car

1.)Cheap
2.)Fast
3.)Durable

You only get two, you can't have all three.

Long tube J-pipe would make more of a difference than a catback. Two biggest restrictions are the stock primary cats and the stock J-pipe.

I've got the Progress rear bar along with the TL-S front bar on my Accord, definitely noticeable upgrade from the rear TL-S bar. Feels nearly identical with regards to minimal understeer as my G35 with Hotchkis bars on it.

Sorry I haven’t hopped on in a while... anyway my first daily was a 1991 Dodge Dakota. Granted it was the 5.2L V8 but still it wasn’t fast. At All

GTFO! It had torque which is just (if not more) usable and "feelable" around town.
I'm talking anemic "i'm giving her all she got captain" no torque and 70 hp shit...
punched and you have time to make a bologna sandwich before it soars to 60mpg...

Trust me, the TL is fast for what it is...

but you've had V8 and torque...so you probably need something faster to be happy...

My 2006 Accord V6 is bone stock right now, but I'm glad to see the platform do so well with such little modding! This is truly the most enjoyable car I've ever owned!

LOL...that's not saying much although the you have an RDX too, right? How can the accord be better?
I guess I get it...overall I like my TL better than my S4 and technically the S4 is better.

I like the Accord more right now because the RDX is kind of junky right now. It needs some TLC that I can't justify giving it just yet.

It needs to be repainted, front seats need reupholsting, new HID bulbs, new headliner, oh, and the rear struts are finally shot. Gonna get those done after the Accord gets the TB and engine mounts this summer.

The RDX sits out in the sun 24/7 street parked. It gets dirty. I wash it at work for free... I can't swirl paint that isn't there... LOL!

Nah, but seriously, it has 293K miles now... I'm not too concerned about it's overall appearance as of right now.

My goal is to get the Accord back to 100% since it's almost already perfect... Then address the RDX and get it there after... This way, I'll never need to worry about major reconditioning of the Accord too! I can put it all into the RDX after I finish the handful of things the Accord needs!

It just seems like overall the RDX should be the better vehicle to have put your attention to.
This is the 1st Gen Turbo, right?

I'm thinking the mistake y'all are making is trying to reason with the unreasonable (aka. MM). That's like trying to convince Trump someone else might have a better idea.

It is a FB crowd.

A big, long circle jerk, asking questions and talking about nothing with no intention to ever do any suggestion given here.

99% of the talk on those 3G FB groups is crap.

A 3G guys trying to mod their cars with no idea how to change a tire.

Makes my stomach churn.
