Careful with those mods... READ THIS
Hey guys, my brother is at the Naval Base in Great Lakes, IL. He sent me this message. He and I both travel frequently from there to Milwaukee to visit each other.
Here is some information for IL, but I'm sure other states will be doing this, if they haven't already. Just be careful with those fast mods, and drive safe!
The State of Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway
work zones in July. Second offense tickets are $1,000 with license
suspension. Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed
cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways. Anyone
caught by these devices will be mailed a ticket for the FIRST offense,
but the SECOND offense will cost $1000.00 and comes with a 90-Day
suspension.
Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license,
which allows insurance companies to raise their rates. This represents
the harshest penalty structure yet for a city or state usine PHOTO
enforcements. The State will begin with TWO camera vans issuing tickets
in work zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH. Photographs of both
the Driver's face and License plate are taken.

The below is also good to know info that came from Snopes.com.
The "Move Over Act
<http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlo/78R/billtext/SB00193F.HTM> " (Sec.
545.157 of the Texas Transportation Code) requires motorists approaching
emergency vehicles that are stopped with their lights flashing by the
sides of roads to move out of the lanes closest to these vehicles or to
reduce speed to 20 mph under the posted limit. (If the speed limit is
less than 25 mph, motorists must slow to 5 mph.) This law was intended
to reduce the number of injuries to police officers, paramedics,
ambulance workers, and fire fighters who have all too often been winged
by cars whizzing past sites where they were attempting to carry out
their duties.
Many of those who serve have been killed by careless motorists. In 2003,
among the police officers killed nationwide, 13 were struck by vehicles
while they were on duty outside of their vehicles.
"Move over" laws are on the books in California, Georgia, Florida,
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri,
Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah,
Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.

I've heard of the move over law.... but that first part sounds like a chain e-mail hoax to me... lol
Either way, it's not a bad idea in work zones. People shouldn't be speeding in work zones anyway.

1) We have a move over law here, too. Still not sure why you need a law for it, though...always seemed like common courtesy to me...I know I wouldn't want some idiot blaring past me if I was on the side of the road, so I always moved over. Of course, most people don't have courtesy or respect these days, so I guess the government has to make laws to that affect.
2) Speed cameras (and red light cameras) were found to be illegal here as they didn't give the required 90% of ticket revenue to the schools per the state constitution. They have been challenged in other states based on a variety of reasons...not sure how those cases have turned out.
3) What does this have to do with mods? The TL?

The "move over law" is also being introduced here in Alabama.
The state troopers love to sit in work zones here!! Double fines!! 20-30 MPH reduced speed in those areas, so if you where doing the original posted speed limit, it is a wreckless driving ticket!! The only saving grace (if you can call it that), is that workers must be present. If there are no workers, then it is just the normal fine, not doubled!!!!

The last time I was in AL, we saw tons of cops sitting in the work zones on the interstates...but everyone was going about 15-20 over the limit and they were just sitting there watching...I would've thought they'd have been having a field day, but they just sat there.

HAHAHA!! thats what MD DC and VA ALL LOOK LIKE NOW!!
Just one big fking messing. I really fear for lowering my this spring/summer. I might have to cut back on my clubbing because the merge from MD to DC is horrible as far as road work...but back on topic
Courtesy thing is common sense to me like when you know you are approaching a busy on ramp, SIGNAL to the left and move out of the far right lane until you pass it. People can't merge for ish.
Back to DC...camera lights suck because when you go to hit the brakes, the roads are so bad that the ABS goes crazy and you end up sliding into the intersection.lol

I guess it isn't too bad since the speed limit posted is at 55 but man that will make the commute a bit longer.
