i have the K&N intake installed on my TL. It makes a decent sound, though I have the full cold air. im sure if you went short ram it would sound pretty much the same. Im happy with it, more or less...the sound sometimes is a bit much.

I've been pretty dissapointed with the sound of the Weapon R, I've had it now for close to two months, it even sounds like it's getting softer. lol. Even at 3,500RPMs it's barely noticeable.

Has anyone had the same feeling about the Weapon R short Ram?

I thought it should pretty much be the same as the AEM.

I have a setup which I have had on my TL several times (yesterday was the most recent) which is a hybrid from my last car, a 2002 Altima SE. It's comprised of an Apexi Power Intake filter (dry element, cone style) and an Apexi adaptor which fits the ribbed throttle body coupling perfectly. So imagine a red cone filter attached directly to the ribbed coupling and resting in the bottom section of the air box (actually I have a square peice of foam propping the filter up a little so it's not at too much of a bend.

I had it on yesterday for a few hours to once again see if I wanted to leave it in place. As for low-end response.. no difference from stock. The only area where I could say there is a difference in pull is in the upper RPM range. As for sound, yes it is quite loud at WOT, but that's not a problem since most of the time, most people do not go WOT. Anyway, who cares. If you want performance, it comes at a price.

Is it woth it? Probably not. I re-installed my stock setup yesterday, so the mybrid is back in the basement until the next time I get an itch to try it out again.
