the mapping in the computer for the fuel actually tries to run as lean as possible, up to a max limit, but it is always wanting to run lean for better mileage, measuring the exhaust before and after the cat to see how its doing.
ON ~cruise~ type mode for the system, it will adjust the fuel flow rate down and accept the larger mass quantitiy of air
I laugh at this whole lower manifold air temp means more fuel hahahahahahahahaha
That would mean people in denver in the winter would be running full rich

Not exactly...

The TL uses a speed density system. This means the airflow is not measured like a mass air car, it's calculated instead. Primary components of this calculation are the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor, RPM, IAT (intake air temp) sensor, and a few others. If the computer only measured RPM vs MAP, the car would run lean in cold climates and rich in hot climates. The IAT sensor helps it to calculate the density of the air coming in.

The IAT doesn't make it run rich or lean, it helps to keep the A/F ratio as close to stoich as possible.

Some mass air cars that use a swinging door type meter common on older imports or the the venturi tube type also have to use the IAT for calculations since they only measure and not the mass of air coming in.

The hotwire sensors actually measure the mass of air coming in and not just the , resulting in a more accurate reading and less dependance on the IAT sensor.

No matter what system is used, the 02 sensor has the final word. It checks the calculations post combustion. It can only adjust so much and if the mixture is off too much, it throws a code.

The 02 after the cat is only there to check the catalytic convertor efficiency and let you know if your cat is failing. It has nothing to do with the engine.
