CAI sounds like Holley four barrel carb
I installed my AEM CAI today. I was surprised that it did *not* sounds like a “sucking air” sound. After a few WOT, I thought to myself “Hey, I recognize this sound from somewhere ?!!?! ![Scratch](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/scratch.gif)
At WOT, the CAI sounds identical to a V8 with a Holley four barrel.
I suppose this makes sense because both the old-fashion Holley carb (with open air filter like Moroso) and the CAI are allowing the “intake sounds” to escape to be heard. But, non the less, this did catch me by surprise.
I also wonder why no members here have ever explained the CAI sounding like a Holley at WOT. I think this is because most members here are too young to have much experience with “old fashion” hot rodding with Elderbrock intake manifolds, Holley carbs, Moroso air filters, B&M shift kits, etc.

One on the right for me
I'll agree to the extent that it sounds like the one I have on the mustang when I have the air filter off and am reving it standing next to the carb...otherwise I cant hear shit over the exhaust.
