Bye Bye To My Greddy...Hello ATLP Quads

I thought i start this thread because of all the people that are on the list to get the Greddy EVO exhaust...i myself am on that list...

But today, me and some of the guys from socal decided to meet up for some go karting action in Anaheim, CA. Aznbo187 has his TL with his ATLP exhaust system...quad tips....I have to say that this exhaust sounds SUHHHHHHHHH-WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Very deep tone...it's louder than the Greddy, so if you don't like loud, this isn't your exhaust, but it makes the TL sound VERY VERY mean...it's not loud like rice burner loud, but it's a VERY good loud. I know a lot of people are on the Greddy list, a lot of people are waiting for the 2nd group buy if that's gonna happen...but after today, i've changed my mind. I'm gonna be picking up my Greddy EVO next week from Greddy and then it will be for sale....so for all of you who want an exhaust, look into the ATLP!

agreed, Mike was right, it sounds VERY good on the 3.2 motor. No other exhausts I've heard comes close to ATLP's sexiness!

How long will it take until the one that fits perfectly on the 04-06 TL's hit the market?
How much will it cost?
And will it be a quad exhaust?

I'm sorry for all the questions...
I'm just really really interested.

If I put the one already out on my 05 TL, what will I have to do to make it fit. Will it be alot of moving stuff around. Or is it a simple installation?

Wait, Even with this new bolt on version, will I still have to buy an ASPEC rear or a Type S rear.
Or can I keep the rear I have already (save some money) and just bolt on the exhaust, without any slight modifications, and it will fit on perfect?

You forgot to mention, you have to have a TL-S rear bumper for it to fit.

the stock opening of a 04-07 non-type s rear is too small to house quad tips. it will look silly if he made "smaller tips, but quad to fit in that section....your car will look riced out. with the 07 a-spec rear the back has more room and looks more aggressive with the bigger tips...

Yeah, true. But the fact that I would have to spend the price of the exhaust, the bumper, and to have it painted to match is over kill to me.

You will need the Aspec (07 TL-S), or the TL-S bumper to make the tips work, because they won't fit in the space of the 04-06 rear openings. Plus it will look silly.

Either from Mike (aznbo) directly, or from Tim at Honda Acura World.

I keep scanning ebay too.

Jump on the GB. We still need 2 more so production can begin.

Sure wish I could find a WDP TL-S in Nova who wanted to trade entire rear bumpers...

Yea, i've been seeing alot of people selling the Greddy EVO exhaust in the black market....

the ATLP is damn loud... DAMN loud. but like the OP said, not rice-burning, fart can, raspy loud

i compare the sound of my TL-S to a G35 6MT w/ a Borla Exhaust... , but a deeper tone... i posted sound clips somewhere on this forum, and they are on youtube.. but clips dont do justice...

Mike, correct me if im wrong, but can't the end user just purchase the 07+ TL-S Aspec Lip kit, and not the whole rear bumper

Yep, you don't need the whole bumper just the lip will work. That's what I have, as well as a few other members. (ib18c1, aytheinseis, ballinfizzle..)

Mike... You were gonna post a bit of how to what exactly had to be trimmed to help us 04-06ers out...

I'm sure I can figure it our, but it might help the other on the list out a bit if you had some "trim here" pics.

Something like this could work with a base bumper/TLS lip combo. You could also cut just the exhaust outlets out, probably 1" on top, 2" middle, 3" on outsides

why you gotta steal my photoshop jerkface hahahahah

just so you guys know, if you cut where it states above, you wont have the bumper show thru the grill on the type s lip. if you just cut around the exhaust openings, your bumper will be blocking the opening on the type s rear lip. so do what your preference is.

if you have nbp, then it should be fine if it blocks the opening. but other colors should be aware cause it shows more and may look odd.

Ok so I'm trying to understand the red line. I know thats where the cut has to be. So if I cut a straight line from the top of one exhaust outlet to the other exhaust outlet, and then curve the sides down.

Now the curving the sides down part, should it be like 2 inches past the exhaust outlet where it ends?

I know the blue dots are where the lip will get screwed at, and the blue dash im assuming is where the top of the lip is on the side?

the blue line on the side if for a slit, the rear has a device thats kind of like a zip tie. it hold the lip flush againts the bumper.

those were just approx cuts that i made. you dont have to cut it all the way across if you dont want to. you can just cut around the exhaust portion if you want. but then you will be able to see your stock bumper thru the lil grill opening on the lip. i think it looks fine that way if you have a NBP, but any other color and its going to easily show. might look funny. i cut mine all the across the red line cause i have WDP.

and yes it should go past the exhaust holes on the outside or else that part comes into contact with the lip. it fits flusher if there is no protruding piece

So you just cut the whole section off? Thats what I'm thinking about doing. But I was looking at the instruction for the install and it shows that there are 4 screw/bolts that go in from the bottom of the lip and connect to the bottom of the bumper?? Whats the deal on that, cuz if you cut that section off dont you lose the bottom part of the bumper where the lip connects to

Reason I ask, is because I am just going to do this cut, and then take the car to the shop for everything else, that way i know its done right, so everything lines up and the rear of the stock bumper isnt seen like you say it will be if you dont cut it all out

why not leave hte bottom there and cut the part that would show... that way the bottom is still there, the grille is fairly small in width just so shouldn't be that hard

I was thinking about that. Problem is I dont have the rear lip so I dont know what the dimensions are and where to cut. I talked to the tech who's gonna do the install and said that I should do the cut so that it is the way I want.... Again I DONT KNOW WHERE TO CUT

Help Please

Cut along the red line. The 4 bolts/3 bolts are the blue dots in the picture, they are above the cut so even when you cut the bottom, you will still be able to mount the bolts.

If you look at the following diagram http://photos.imageevent.com/astrobo.../07tlsrear.pdf

It shows that you are to connect the lip with 4 "bumper bolts" from the bottom that go up and connect to the bumper I assume. Or does it connect directly to the body??? How does that work. If the lip only connects with the double sided tape, the brackets that connect by the wheel well, and the three screws that go into the bumper; will that be enough to make sure it stays on?

yes, thats how i had it for awhile. the portion you are talking about are on the very bottom, on the underside, if you cut where i showed you, then yes you dont connect nething there. ive had it on for a long time like that with no issues at all. its very stable as long as u make those three bolts in the right place and have it snug up againts the stock bumper. there are going to be 2 underside pieces that will be a bit loose but have no effect on anything. its more of like an undercarriage thing.

a couple of months after i installed the lip i put in custom rear diffuser under there and just made a bracket for those 2 pieces cause the diffuser was attached to it. but that is not necessary if you are just installing the lip.

So you think I should just chop the whole bottom part off like your pic shows? or should I attempt to just cut the slot in the back plus the exhaust outlet?

Do you really have to go through all this cutting? Seems like a lot of work.

To clarify:
I have a base '06TL auto in Anthracite. So, in order to get this exhaust I would have to buy an '07 TL-S rear bumper and get it painted since '07s don't come in Anthracite.
Then just bolt it on?
Yes?

Yeah, you could pretty much do that. I'm getting an aspec lip kit, so I am getting that, rather then just put the 07 bumper on. In order to do that it requires me to cut, otherwise I spend another 220 for the bumper plus probably 200 more to get it painted.

its up to you if you wana chop it all off or not. i decided to chop it all off cause it will sit more flush. if you leave most of it on the bottom and cut a portion for the grill only, that section may be touching the lip. im not sure but it might affect how the rest of the lip sits on the bumper.

ive seen mike's bumper and all he did was cut around the exhaust portion of the bumper. since i cut off the whole bottom piece, mine sits more flush on the horizontal line under the rear fenders. his sits a little bit below that line.

when you are doing this, you can make up your mind then. remove your stock bumper and put that on the ground and have the rear of the bumper stick up straight in the air. (preferably grass so it does not get scratched up). then take the lip and have it sit on top of it and see where it touches and where it needs to go for the mounting points. then you'll see what im talking about. you can make it fit by just cutting around the exhaust openings, but if you cut where i showed in the pic, you will be able to have the lip completely envelope the bumper rather then having to force the lip to go around the bumper.

So I went to the dealership to check out the TL-S bumper, and the lower grill (opening) is actually set behind the level of the bumper. For example if you look at the picture on the top, see that lip right above the three dots, its like that just inversed right where the red line is.

So I am just gonna chop the whole bottom part off. I would wait till I install the lip, but the dealership is doing the install, so I can't do that...

Thanks for ya'lls Help

Def. post pictures once I cut it and once everything is installed
