Borla Catback

I know Borla doesn't make a catback for a 3G TL, but does anyone know if the Borla catback for a 7G accord will work on the TL. Both cars look to have similar exhaust, unless I'm way off.

I wondered the same thing till I saw underneath the accord... with modification you can make it fit... of course it will involve cutting and welding in some areas

perfect. that's what I've been looking for all along. gonna have to custom make one though, 700 bucks + some custom welding = too much!

Yeah, I think I'm going to just get the mufflers and have a shop weld the stock tips on.

You should just install Borla mufflers and a high flow cat and you should get similar results.

well here's what I want to do. I think if I get rid of the stock resonator it'll drone away, but if I get the big ol' resonator it'll do away with the drone. just a thought, I guess I'll find out if I'm right. Forgive the lame drawing.

here's an interesting article, borla mufflers did well while being quiet, but the dynomax seemed to do even better while being even quieter and they're cheaper... whachu guys think?

Muffler comparison

actually ur drawing was pretty damn good

that big ol resonator isn't going to do anything with the drone, trust me, it will amplify it so it wont make ur interior vibrate but it will still be an annoyance, I've yet to see a better resonator than the Aero resonators, i really swear by them... and the few guys I've recommended to them have no complaints...

Now.. if you plan to go 2.5" after the jpipe, you will have to upgrade to 1 of the jpipes available

so you will want to go with

richie v6/atlp jpipe - -> richie v6 test pipe/atlp race pipe - -> 2.5" tubing - -> Aer25 Resonator - -> 2.5" tubing - -> Magnaflow Y Pipe Part # 10758 - -> 2.25" tubing - -> 2 borla mufflers with an inlet of 2.25" - -> stock tips or your choice of tips

hopes this helps

God bless you my dear friend, I've been trying to get that answered forever! OK so the way to get it quietest & deepest with the least rasp (note I have a ATLP J pipe and Test pipe waiting in my garage) is to go with the aer25 resonator, and then the borla muffs? or should I go 3 borla muffs? I think I might just get 2.5 piped straight off the j pipe to the resonator and sell the test pipe to get some $$ back. I read in that link that the dynomax and supertrapp 18 were both cheaper, quieter, allowed less back pressure and increased the trap speed/decreased qtr mile time over the borla. any opinion on those?

mmhhh.... dunno about the mufflers, but we aren't running v8s so the borla's should do

as for running straight from the jpipe back... you'd have to get the flange... it is an irregular shape....

What would happen if I did a resonator and then single muffler where the stock resonator and 3rd muffler are, and then just did a pipe into a Y into the tips with no rear mufflers? would that sound like poop?

uhh

1) i think you'll have clearance issues.
2) that's ALOT of piping you'll be doing
3) most likely a power loss in the whole endevour -

I had a Borla exhaust on my accord and it was perfect. If they made it for the 3G I would be all over it.
