BIGGER Throttle body's

www.maxbore.com I sent them my throttle body. Kinda of risky? Yes but this proven to be very good. His name is geroge. Check out the site. I told him to put a picture of my 04 acura TL throttle body on his site so the world could know and he did its half way down the page on the red table. 68mm with 70mm tapered opening for $100 dollars.

Highly recommend this guy.

So you had the butterfly valve/throttle plate matched to the new diameter of your throttle body?

What is the stock diameter of the throttle body?

Nice, I heard about maxbore but never used them.

I just got delivery of my throttle back from P2R, 82mm opening inlet. I haven't measured the tapered down end yet. Stock for mine (4g tl-awd) is 69mm, so it should be well over 70 at that point. It'd be cool if someone could mate up the 4g TB to 3G.

Yeah RacingHart paid more but I'm not sure if it that was to bore / PnP + new TB or just for the bore & PnP.

btw.. beachexotic.. you thinking about knife edging the butterfly?

Never mind I got to reading and all questions are answered. Thanks for the hook up.

This is probably one of the best mods to do for throttle response and more power right from the start.

im pretty sure a few of us already did the math on it in another thread and there was no power gain just throttle response was a lil nicer.

NO? Turn around time is 1 week roughly. As far as stock TB size our factor size is 64mm to 65mm so i went up 3mm from factory. I'm port matching the intake manifold along with honing and porting the manifold with wider intake runners to match manifold and heads. I will have dyno number up soon as i reinstall the parts later on this week.

a lot of people on this site need to calm down. there is way too much bitching going on. it gets old fast. i have been subscribed to quite a few different forums, and next to honda tech, this site has the most bashing of any. these sites are created to help eachother out and learn a thing or two. there is no reason anyone needs to act like a jack ass and bash on anyone. just my .02

calm down dude don't believe every dyno you see, it's called marketing. this should def help throttle response but in terms of power it's gonna help more if you're boosted, otherwise i don't know how much hp you'll actually gain..it really depends on your other mods. nonetheless it still seems like a pretty good damn good mod for $100

I',m very calm. I'm just tired of the girls on this site bashing everything i work so hard to post so other member can have the help they need by watching my work. Mean while you have pritty little kids milking mom and dad's wallet and making stupid comments. As far as marketing. I have put well enough time into building motors to know what works and what doesn't. I maybe not have the capital to doing engine milling and that such. But i have enough time in wrenching to pull a motor apart with my teeth and put it back together and run for a long time.

X2 for P2R. Here are the stock 68mm vs 71mm second gen CLs they bored for me.

It feels great.

Would you mind me asking who is doing the work and where do you plan to dyno your TL?

calmer than you are...

Can't really speak #'s but, I grew up on VW's and the first thing you did was go to parts yard and yank a throttle body from an Audi 5 cylinder that mated right up to the GTI intake. It worked very well in concert with bored out intake (no CAI's back then) and free flowing exhaust system.

Losing my ride for a week is the only thing stopping me.

maybe Acura owners just have bigger ego's than Honda owners. A few guys on this forum just come across pretty harsh when delivering their point. Others are just dicks.

It shouldn't be too difficult to buy a 2nd one.. get the work done.. then sell yours after the swap.. might make a little more on the exchange.

This should give better throttle response on a stock car. I doubt it will do much power wise while stock.

If the OP is doing a full port and polish on the heads and intake, the ported TB will become more useful. Typically, a 70mm TB is good for 500hp NA and 700+ FI.

They were fun to drive and great looking hatches until about 96, when they tried putting power to everything - all of my friends that kept buying replaced power window/sunroof motors routinely. The manual windows on my 91 never broke.

I still think the 90-92 GTI is one of the best hatchback body designs, ever.

He meant that a 70mm TB is capable of flowing enough fuel for an engine making up to 500hp, not that simply adding a 70mm TB would give you that figure.

the dogs seem to approve!

I would instantly notice quicker throttle response. The stock pedal delay gets on my nerves, but I know you can't make the auto downshits any quicker - or would the 5AT shift faster if the throttle reacts quicker?
