Best brake pad for track?

I'm going to be taking my TL-S to VIR soon and need to do something better than the Hawk HPS pads that I regretfully used last time I went to the track (Click here)

If anyone has taken their TL-S or Brembo'd TL to the track and has advice on pads to use (or not use!), I'd love to hear it. Are the OEM Brembo pads any good?

Note that for this kind of event, I'm not concerned with brake dust, longevity, or other practical concerns that I'd worry about on the street. I want something that will handle high heat and rapid heat cycling more gracefully. The one thing that held me back last time was uncertainty every time I needed to brake... would I be able to slow down or would I need to plan an off-track escape?

Brake fluid is squared away--using ATE fluid like I was last time, but I intend to flush after each day, or perhaps midway through each day if needed.

I'm going to the track hopefully very soon. I can't help you, this will be my first time in this car and I'm installing my 13" Rotoras and Motul DOT 5.1 fluid tomorrow in preparation. However, this site http://rpgproduction.rpmware.com/cob...1/g-53534.aspx looks very promising as it explains the properties of different pads. Looks to be more racing oriented. Their "sport" pads seem to be barely drivable on the street. But for barely adequate 12.2" Brembos the higher heat handling would be useful.

I noticed you said the pedal went to the floor. This would be a fluid issue, not pad issue. Definately upgrade the fluid too.

EBC Green or the Reds are great pads for track use. I use the greens for track days and they hold up well. Reds wold be better. On some track days i have used the yellows but they will eat up rotors faster but handle the heat better.

OEM Brembo pads are great. I loved them other than how quickly they wear. Dust up like a mofo but you know they are working. The Racing Brake setup is not too bad either. I run the ET500's on my car and on the weekend canyon carving it grips pretty good. The harder you push it the better the brakes feel. I can't comment on the EBC's as I was planning on getting red stuff or something. The Red Stuff/Yellow stuff is a pretty aggressive compound but it will stop at the cost of wearing out the rotors a bit quicker than normal pads.

Maybe I should just install some Camaro brakes.

Sorry, couldn't resist... Long story, old forum posts years ago, blah blah.

Thanks for the input thus far. Are the EBC pads for cars really bad on rotors? I had to run EBC HH pads on my bike at the track once because that's all I could find in a pinch locally, and they turned those poor 330mm disks blue

Was it the 1LE guy?

I just did the Rotora 13" kit and it's amazing. I'm really impressed.
