B-031: My AEM V2 upgrade!
Well Al you know I had to follow your lead! I got a great deal on a V2 CAI, so what the hell! I had to buy a fresh filter, but that's a good thing. The install wasn't that bad. I did hammer the ledge where the intake would touch for clearance. Other than that it was easy. It did take me a couple of hours, because I was taking my sweet time. I jacked the front left, took off the wheel for room to work, take out the V1, and slap that baby on there! I did have to move the sensor back to the TB, but didn't make a difference.
Now for the test run. I had to take the battery out for the install, so that took care of resetting the ECU. At idle didn't sound any different from the V1. Same as the rev. I took it for a drive and wow! At first I couldn't tell the difference. After driving for a while, the difference started to shine through! I got a bump in low and mid range power! No lie, it was very noticable! The throttle response was great! I didn't get a chance to take it on the highway, but I'm pretty sure there won't be a difference there. I was satisfied with the results so far anyway!
Well that's my take on this upgrade. V2 made a believer out of me! And it looks better too! Like Al said; if you can get one for cheap, do it! I did it and very happy with it!

from what ive heard is it true that a v2 as opposed to a v1, lessens the chance of hydrolocking due to a piping difference?
I was on aem's website and a v2 isnt applicable to an 05 6mt, is it for a different application that I should look for?

chiming in as well:
great intake overall, i had driven a 6mt TL with v1 CAI, and mine with the V2....the V1 gets loud only when vtec hits which is around 4500rpm while the V2 is really deep and throaty from 3000-4500rpm then roars when vtec kicks in.
overall, very happy as well! =] congrats to t0talacuratl

Update!
As requested!
Out with the old.
In with the new! BTW, I painted it black. I think it looks better than the silver.
Installed!
This was taken behind the battery; there is the negative cable. I hammered the ledge that is to the rear of the intake pipe. I have a good 2 mm clearance.

It looks like AEM isn't giving plugs for if you move the IAT sensor into the intake.
It looks like from the picture they just use a rubber plug where as mine came with a bolt to put into the TB. Someone on V-6-P said that their instructions also didn't say anything about the option of moving the sensor into the intake. WIERD?

I wonder why would they make 2 versions. Mine didn't come with the welded bung just a rubber insert the bolt for the sensor went into.
Here's mine, you can see the bolt in the old IAT spot in the TB that AEM sent with the intake:

on the tl you cannot move the iat sensor because it doesn't reach

I bought mine used for $120. I did bought a new filter though. Didn't like the one that came with it.
Actually if mine could have reached to do the power adder, but did not come with the welded plug. I had to buy a rubber plug and jb weld from Home Depot like Al said. Doesn't matter to me either way.

Yeah of course, that what I had to do to get mine to reach, just re-wrap the wires with electrical tape and you are all set.
I was wondering why you said they don't reach, glad this got cleared up...

I know this is an older thread, but it seems that the accord and the TL have a similar set up. I had an 03' Accord V6 coupe with an Injen RD CAI set up - I sold the Accord with the CAI - guess I should have taken the time to research first, cuz the exact same Injen Part # for the 03-07 V6 Accord is the one listed as fitting the 04-08 TL including the 07/08 Type S... So much for building Injen building a CAI from the "ground up" for the TL...

injen pretty much = fujita....
fujita MA-1006 (same for tl and accord) according to f5air.com
injen RD1482 (same for tl and accord) according to injen.com

Finally you guy's are doing this!!
I have been saying that the V2 was better. But it took this MAN "stillhere153" to get 'r' done"!
The V2 "IS" better. I know cuz I had one in my 2000 Integra. I tried all of the top brands.
Some lost HP. ----
Then I got the V2. Loved the sound. And the low - mid TQ boost! Yes, it's worth doing if you can "get a price"!
Maybe next time you'll listen to "the old fart"!
