Auto shift kit

Has anyone tried the trans lab shift kit? Make any difference? Expensive to get installed?

Does it require getting to the valve body or does it replaces some of the solenoids on the outside?

If first, forget about it unless you are rebuilding the trans.

You'll need to pull the trans to get the valve body out and install the full kit. They also have a TC solenoid kit and some other stuff for a much better full rebuild of the trans.

Get a quote for rebuilding the trans and that would be about it.

No point doing it unless your trans is already failing and you need to rebuild it anyways.

I had it installed when I had my transmission rebuilt-the shop automatically includes it in the rebuild because it addresses many of the issues the transmission has. Shifts more quickly than it did stock, 2-3 upshift was the most noticeably improved. Downshifts are MUCH faster. No harsh shifts like if you put a B&M Shift Kit in a GM transmission, although on asphalt in cool temps, it has chirped the 1-2 upshift. Just faster, firmer shifts. But not race level.

With a master kit rebuild, I think everything was about $2400. He had my car 5 days total, he says its really important to tank the valve body long enough to clean everything out of it. Small shop, been in business 35 years. He only does transmissions, doesn't even remove them, has someone else who comes in and does that. My car was in otherwise such good condition it didn't make sense to dump it for $1500 with a bad transmission. Got so far almost another 5 years out of my car for basically 5 car payments on something else.
