Thanks Daniel,

This would make it 8. Two more and we are good to go.

We will be going in for the test fit tomorrow, as well as the j-pipe fitting.

Btw, those who are on the ATLP list will also receive a discount of the j-pipe.

They don't come in anthracite, sadly. But I think ib18c1 (Tim) might be selling his, already painted in anthracite. If not, I can always you get you a regular color and have them repaint it.

What's the chance of them painting it for me? Would they do that?

Thumbs down

aznbo187:

$1250 or so in total for a frickin exhaust This is crazy...

Now don't get me wrong, I admire your efforts and this is a great product but I don't understand why this catback has to be so expensive to buy at GB prices. Especially with having to buy a TL-S rear bumper/TL-S A-Spec lip in order for the 4 trumpets to fit.

And I thought the Comptech catback was overpriced

As far as I understand this is a slightly revised version of the TL-S exhaust??? One exhaust, 04-08 TL and 07+ TL compatibility

Maybe if you made the price more reasonable you'd have more customers, just an idea and my

wow, you are so misinformed. odd since all of the info can be found on this thread.

whered u get the info that this is a "slightly revised version of the TL-S exhaust?" that's hardly the case.

and you have no idea of the quality and sound of the exhaust. ive had a chance to look at it in person.

so, where'd you get your info from?

that is weird actros knows his stuff... and the comptech catback is TRASH... how you have a stainless steel exhaust right, with non stainless flanges (last time I checked) flanges go first before anything COMPTECH CATBACK BOYCOTT

Almost there base guys, I can't wait to see a dyno on the base WOT

Acura doesn't do it themselves, it's always done by a 3rd party unless they have their own collision shop in-house which I haven't seen yet.

This was planned to be a TL-S only exhaust in the first place without the need of any further modification to make them fit.

Still, I know $1050 isn't pocket change, even for me.

Am I making a killing of it? Heck no.
Could I have imported these overseas and brought the price down? Sure, I've weighed out many options, and even had a thread a while back to test out quad-tip only conversions for the 04-06's. I didn't like the material, nor the finish of even the best several oversea factories had to offer...not to mention the inconsistency between products within the same batch! I wouldn't put it on my car, let's just say.

In no way am I comparing my exhaust to Comptech's, but let's just say everything was custom tailored, one-of..for the TL & TL-S.

Sorry Actros, I wish I could fulfill everyone needs...I really appreciate your honest feedback, but until I find another manufacturer that satisfies my quality requirements, I won't sacrifice quality and warranty servicing needs for a few bucks. That in itself IMO makes up for the difference.

I've also sent you a proposal offer so you can personally check out the exhaust, if you'd like.

What's the cost?
It's $1050 shipped and we are only requiring a $200 deposit up until the exhausts are ready and done!

Great news guys!

The 2007 TL-S ATLP Exhaust is a perfect fit on the 2004-2006 BASE TL!

Turns out I made a foolish mistake on lining up the 3rd cat working late at night I didn't even realize it.

Anyway, I have 4 available and they will be shipped out to the first 4 people that have made the deposit. I will be back in a few hours and will send out remaining invoices since I'm in a rush right now. The remaining exhausts will start to be produced beginning of next week, and should be done within 2 weeks of next week.

Other great news!

J-pipe production has begun. We came up with a few different designs, but at the end concluded that this design will be the most efficient and also be the most efficient.

Remember, it's only a rough, ROUGH design so please don't base the final product of this.

One of the y-pipe designs. Smooth merge, non-flow interfering.

Do you mean I do not need to buy any TL-s lip for that???? Otherwise I would be the 10.

bumper is required no matter what, just to accomadate for the quad tips..

i've had the ATLP exhaust on my 08 TL-S for over a month now, and i f'ing love it. its louder then my comptech, and its got this growl, rumbling, throaty sound that cant be compared to any other honda/acura exhaust i have EVER heard.....

it may not be as loud on the J32 motor, but surely, you will all be impressed

and having owned both.. my comparision is that the comptech is no better then this. The fact that its flanges are not stainless, actually make it an inferior product in my opinion. Also, the comptech had a mid muffler, so it wasnt as loud as some people would like. I did like the polish of the comptech mufflers though... it looked sweet when i pulled up behind my black car @ night.. looking all shiny and shit... this exhaust looks pretty flush & OEM on the TL-S.

ATLP is a quality exhaust and Mike is one hell of a guy. cant wait to hear the exhaust on the 3.2 version

Also, Mike, since you have recently uncovered the fact the TL-S exhaust lines up perfectly, then that means TL-S'ers can sell their exhaust to base TL-er's and you can match up a comptech, greddy, ATLP or OEM exhaust to any 3G tL?

The hangers were perfect? the routing came out okay? i remember you saying you had to just slightly modify it to fit on your car a few weeks ago...

I believe you are. Let me know when you get back in town...I'll have it by your house by then.

Do you mean I do not need to buy any TL-s lip for that???? Otherwise I would be the 10.
If you have a base TL, that didn't come with quads, you still need EITHER the lip, OR the bumper..or BOTH. But getting ONLY the lip will work as well and save you a good amount of money. Plus you will have the a-spec kit!

How much performance do J pipes give
Looking at the factory piping, there is a bit of a bottle neck when the 2 secondary pipes merge together. We are going with 2" secondaries, instead of 1.75" which will improve the flow without necessary taking away from torque, or drive-ability. I also contemplated on staying with equal length pipes, or just feeding it directly into each other and decided that equal length is the way to go. Although the merge happens prior to the cat, there are still 2 separate pipes which will work to create a scavenging affect.

Anyway, I'm hoping to see a smoother power curve, with a solid gain throughout. Once the part is done, we will dyno it and see some before and after results.

This is quite some amazing news! I better start saving up as well!
Indeed!

Also, Mike, since you have recently uncovered the fact the TL-S exhaust lines up perfectly, then that means TL-S'ers can sell their exhaust to base TL-er's and you can match up a comptech, greddy, ATLP or OEM exhaust to any 3G tL?

That should be correct. If the other exhaust systems followed and used the factory routing and flange locations, it should bolt up. But I'm only assuming this. I can only guarantee a for sure bolt up fit for the ATLP Exhaust, I haven't tried to swap other exhausts between different chassis.

The hangers, fitment, and routing are all perfect. It was a silly mistake of me not bolting up the 3rd cat correctly. Working late at night with no light and rain can get to you!!

Let's get these things going! I can't wait for the j-pipe myself.

I'll be sending out the remaining balance invoices for those who are on the list. Thanks!

Mike

Hey Mike,

I am sending you the remaining amount as we speak...lol hopefully it will come in time when i arrive back in cali! I'll call it my welcome back gift from you LOL

About the stockies...do you still need them? I beleive you stated that you still need tires for the new rims? If that is the case, you can hang on for it, I will not have a need for stockies for a LONGGGGG time unless my 19s needs repairing.
If the stockies are occupying too much of your space when the new rims are on, lmk and I will pick it up asap!

PS thanks for the deal!
hope to hear this sexhaust soon

The lip is attached to the bumper by drilling 3 holes, and a few bolts and double sided tape. I don't personally paint them. If you need, I can get it from my dealership. PM me.

I got procats. They're great. If I was planning to stay naturally aspirated I'd keep em. I have a blower dropping in as soon as I receive the polished manifolds back.

I'm pretty convinced the blowers are causing procat deteriotion... So I snapped up stillhere's OEM Type-S cats, which are higher flowing than my 3.2 stockers. Bolting them on should yield some nominal gain, and provide a more reliable option... I hope anyway.

Thanks for the Help Mike!!!

FYI for everyone else the following is the part number for the 07 TL-S Rear ASPEC Lip 08F03-SEP-240B Thats for the NBP.

As Mike told me over the phone, the stock 06 TL bumper will have to be modified at the current exhaust openings by cutting out the grey portion plus about an inch on top. But it will all be concealed with the lip.

Thanks again!
