Thanks Cole. You got e-mail!

Once the prototype is made (by next week), I'll figure out who I want to use to dyno. I know a lot of you guys are curious about the gains with pro-cats and an exhaust.

im sure the supercharged guys would like to know the gains from this also if you need another tester, LMK. i just got a dyno done last month with the stock jpipe, procats and exhaust. ill go back to the same place for the after dyno. im located in south pasadena

i was going to pull the trigger on richies jpipe, but all of his come with bungs with NO EXCEPTIONS,... oh well. i just wanted to weld my own in and make sure its in the right location.

few questions... will this pass inspection and its just a straight bolt on.. no extra parts needed, just take off old j-pipe and put on ATLP one?

Yep, this will not modify your emissions. It's a straight bolt on replacement for your factory J-Pipe.

What about the option of having the J-pipe replace the stock cat?

There will be a 3rd cat replacement, but I'm seeking alternative options as the one we came up with (magnaflow metal cats) are coming out to be very pricey, for just one cat.

it will pass with 2 cats, it aint about how many cats you have its about how much of the pollutants get converted, 2 cats gets about 99% of the stuff converted, the third cat is for teh 1% left

So why are people worried about removing the third cat?? It looks restrictive.

because unlike florida, cali has very strict emmision laws. when you tamper with anything like removing a factory cat and get pulled over by a gungho cop that decides to check everything, your screwed you can get hit with a HUGE fine.

If that is the case then why would you even consider replacing the stock J-Pipe or exhaust?

More info. please

I too would like to hear the latest information with dyno numbers and pictures of a final product. I have to admit that the competing J-Pipe looks like it has a rather good build quality. Are we to expect this one to be the same?

Thanks in advance.

yes but if the cops in cali are such sticklers about stock parts being replaced arent you running a big risk even putting on a j-pipe/exhaust.

well, depends on the gains. 7 to 9whp, but be worth it. Exhausts only give like 7-10, and they are close to $1000

Build quality is only part of the equation to a working exhaust system.

We are working on the j-pipe and will have a final prototype soon. It's been a hectic week and I apoligize I haven't been able to tend to it much, but after this week ends, I'll have an additional 7 hours free after that to put into it.

Over priced Exhaust are why many of us don't have them. $1,000 for less than 10HP simply isn't enough for most of us to warrant that type of cost. Especially when the CAI gets us 5-7 HP for only $150. So, based on the success of the CAI (nearly everyone has one) vs. the failure of the after-market exhaust (i.e. only a few have after-market exhaust), the guidelines for the J-Pipe SHOULD be for them to price it closer to the CAI in order to get the large number of clients they need in order for this to succeed (IMHO of course). Price the J-Pipe around $200 and buyers will "beat a path to his door". Price it at $400 and he may be surprised at how few the buyers may be.

It is what it is. I aimed to make this as cost efficient as possible, without taking anything away from the features of the part (mandrel bends, equal length, y-merge, etc.). Keep in mind it's a low production item and everything is made in the US.

I will of course, have a discount for those who supported the ATLP Exhaust systems. (including you, Kennedy)

His products are high end custom parts made especially for the TL. I would love to see you find a shop anywhere whilling to custom make an exhaust for your car that sounds and performs anywhere near the ATPL exhaust.

If you want to go buy a cheap fart can and throw it on to your TL feel free.

The j-pipe might be a tad over priced but my bet is down the road people will be beggin to pick them up, even used. I think his j-pipe will have the best gains.
