I don't know about ATLP j-pipe + race pipe, but J-shift j-pipe + test pipe is as quiet as stock because the stock resonators. It does get a little louder at WOT, but not much. I also felt a big power jump (butt dyno)! I'm sure with just an aftermarket cat-back is going to be louder.
But if you don't want a louder than stock exhaust note but more power, stick with the stock catback.

The mid-muffler delete describes the "Stage 1" exhaust mod, and both the mid-muffler delete and change in resonator is labeled as "Stage 2."
I have the RV6 J-pipe/test pipe with the stock exhaust and just unbolted the driver side muffler. There is a little rasp when revving, but when driving normally inside it sounds wonderful. At WOT, the intake/exhaust mix is... I just wish I could hear what it sounds like outside while under a load but none of my friends up at school drive stick
I will get a video up later on tonight. I'll try to get a friend to record from outside.

Don't do a straight pipe.. PLEASE, it's the ricest thing you can do. Go with a aftermarket resonator at least. On the contrary the ATLP Catback is a straight pipe also, but the mufflers etc change the tones nicely.
