Atlp?

I finally have enough money saved up to get my FIRST mod. and ive heard of people doing custom exhausts, and people just buying the whole cat back like the ATLP exhausts. So i went to a shop after school and they told me they could weld in a dynomax resonator, and get rid of my mid muffler for 165$. Ive seen many do this before and the sound you get is great and saves me a lot of money, but then i thought there is also the ATLP j-pipe, race pipe, and the r-v6 pre cat deletes. The j-pipe is 400 and the test pipe is 125 so that still saves me more money then buying just the ATLP cat back, and i figure the pre cat deletes cant be that much so is it still a better idea to get the cat back or should i put the pieces to the puzzle together and see how it comes out?

$165 is high for the Stage 3. The resonator is ~50 and labor shouldn't cost more than 50-75.

Anyway, if you plan on doing the rest of the exhaust mods, you really should open up the rest of your exhaust with an aftermarket catback. I did the Stage 3 and liked it till the mod bug hit.

I would say go full exhaust. You can't beat a custom exhaust. I got a full atlp system and I have people stopping me everyday to ask about it. It's definitely a head turn and adds alot more power than you will get from a resonator. But if your price limit is in the $200's I would say go for a CAI.

i have the money to do a stage 3, j-pipe, race pipe, and pre cats, and i also have the money to do just the ATLP cat-back system. So what i want to know is which set-up will get me more gains? And/Or should i just do the ATLP Exhaust System and wait it out for all the extra little pieces? And whats this problem with peoples cars running lean? I know its a lot of questions but i just want to do this right, thats all.

If you do the stage 3, J-Pipe & Race Pipe, it gets you a different sound than a full exhaust system. You will still get a performance benefit, but it's limited because of the cat-back. A full exhaust system gives you the full spectrum, rich note, where as this setup is more of a tone in addition to your stock exhaust note. And also, the performance aspect of it too.

It all depends on what you are looking for. If you want to get the most power, I'd suggest going with the full cat-back, which will also get you the best sounding exhaust note. But if you want to keep it stock-ish sounding, J-Pipe & Race.
