Anyone ever backfire?

Anyone ever backfire?
Just curious.
The wifey and I were out on a date and I got on it getting on the freeway.
I let off and it was almost like the car backfired. I know I am not explaining it well but it seemed as if I would have stayed on it it would of popped.
I noticed it once before the SC but jst played it off.
I recorded getting on it via my gauges and it seems the boost was at 6 psi and the AF was around 10-11.
Any thoughts?
Is it my cats?

i was gonna ask that question too!!
lol
after i installed the Greddy EVO2s almost everytime the car shifts or when i left of throttle (5AT) i would here a pop.pop.pop. sound...from the back of the car.. like back-firing sound.. but no flames... well at least yet...
i think that is normal.. btw.. i am running CT Supercharged.. so i dunno if that is causing the back-fire sound

^ interesting I am going to check it out when I get home...
I think it is exhaust related... a few weeks back I put the car on a lift in neutral and had a friend rev the gas to see if I felt any air to the touch... nothing around the gaskets... just some sexy sounds

Mine did it a while ago. Drove to IHOP, after 45 minutes left, pulled out hit gas and backfired shifting from 2nd to 3rd at almost WOT. Took it to the dealership...They checked it, all ok, said sometimes the computer farts and it happens.
Hasnt happened again.

If you do a search under 'backfire', you'll find several threads that discuss this phenomenon. JDM5lugHatch provided the following credible explanation:
"This problem is caused by the combination of being an Automatic and Drive By Wire. I could repeat it not stop in my TL when I had it. Full Throttle in i think it was 2nd gear and bump it up to 3rd gear at around 6k staying on the throttle. It would do it damn near every time. The addition of an intake amplifies the sound. It did it to me 1 time when the car was stock with the factory intake. However, like clockwork with the addition of the intake. The throttle plate is slamming closed to prevent a full throttle shift to the next gear (limit power) then it opens really fast so you get this backfire type sound through the intake system.
So all in all it's normal and not causing any problems!"
