Cool Another Satisfied AEM Customer...

So, yesterday in my unemployed boredum I called King Motorsports to see if they had any Comptech RSB's in stock. He did not, but while on the phone with him I asked about pricing on the AEM intake. After putting me on hold for a minute, he came back and said

"I have one in stock, polished for $216."

My response:

"OK, I'll be there shortly."

3 minutes later, Im walking into their shop and he said :"Intake?" "You got it!"

Well, installed it last night, and I am extremely impressed. The sound is great, but at the same time not what I was expecting. Of course, thats because I'm coming out of an S2000 with a SRI that screamed to 9 grand, but I still love the sound this makes....very different!!

Anyways, Just thought I'd share....even though there are a billion AEM threads!

WOw, $216? I was just looking for them online and best I found was ~$240. That's a great price.

I just checked them online and assuming it is the same, they list at $252 on King Motorsports website. I wonder why the deal.

The 252 is for the new "model" with the dry flow filter, I got the oiled filter. I could have gotten the dry flow filter for another $40 or so, but I said no thanks!

Acuradriver, I had the S2000 from 2002 until September of 05 when I got my 05 TL. The 03 TL was my daily/winter driver while I owned the S2.

Here is a breakdown:
Oct 98 bought 94 Accord, my first car
June 2000 traded accord for 97 MB C280 Sport
June 2002 traded MB for S2000 (New)s
Sept 2002 bought 89 Audi 200 Turbo
February 2003 Traded in Audi for a 96 Tahoe LT.
February 2004 Sold Tahoe
September 2004 bought 03 TL
Spetember 05 Traded TL and S2 for 05 TL....

Hopefully I plan on keeping this car until I pay it off.....

7 Cars in 7 Years technically, but the Audi, Tahoe, and 03 TL were not around too long....

Are there any noticeable differences or benefits/downfalls with the dry flow filter? I have no clue what the difference is?

Thanks in advance

DRYFLOW Synthetic Filter Features:

AEM’s unique non-woven filter media never needs oil! This means less down time between cleanings and no more chance of over-oiling

No oil means no warranty issues from oil traveling along the inlet and clogging the MAF sensor

The DRYFLOW Synthetic filter’s unique non-woven polyester filter media is independently-tested to deliver 98% initial filtration efficiency (up to 99.4% cumulative efficiency). Oiled filter initial efficiency is typically 90% to 95% efficient

The DRYFLOW Synthetic filter delivers superior filtration and equal performance (compared to an oiled filter)

A neutral gray filter color complements our mirror-polished and powdercoated finishes, and hides the dirt that it keeps out of your engine.

A mineral reinforced plastic interior cage increases structural rigidity—it’s virtually impossible to collapse! No mesh screen means no more filter damage from bumps during installation or cleaning and no corrosion damage.

Element is cleanable and is Guaranteed for Life!

Will NOT void your vehicle’s warranty!

Thanks!

I too am interested in an AEM intake, but I have one question:

How is this new filter when it comes to its water repellant abilities? The oiled K&N repelled water very well if it ever got splashed a little when it was down in the fender well of my last car.

And how low does this intake sit the filter? We get some big arse puddles down here is south fla, some that come up to about the bottom of the car near the door.

Well a splash of water on an intake filter shouldn't really cause anything happen other than getting the filter slightly damp. You have to submerge the filter in water for it to suck up water. If you have flooded roads or will be submerging the front bumper in 2-3 feet of water you are better off not getting a cold air intake.

Would you have to take off the bumper and take off the filter to clean it?

nope. You can get to the filter extremely easily through the drivers side wheel well....just remove the rim (or crank the wheel all the way right) and pull back the front of the fender liner.

Nope, the fender liner is just the plastic that lines the inner wheel well....just pop out a few clips and thats it.

Damn dude chill! There are 3 threads all at the top and you have asked the same question 3 times 3 different ways. You only need to ask once or search for your answer.

Now that we have that outta the way. It's not hard if you have basic knowledge and are mechanically inclined. If you aren't you may want to see if someone in your area will help you with the install or you can always pay a shop to do it. If you do a search you will find there are some very good write ups on the install.

If you think you love it when your VTEC kicks-in, wait until you get a AEM CAI !!! The car turns into a grawling, mean beast when it hits VTEC while running the AEM CAI. Had mine for two weeks now. I love to hold the pedal halfway to the floor (half WOT) and wait for the tach to reach 5k, and feel the VTEC to start pulling it As off while the sounds changes from Clark Kent into Superman. It is an awesome transformation to experience. Before getting the CAI, I would just floor it in a single stomp to the floor. Now, with the CAI, it is more fun to hold it at half WOT, and wait for the Beast to arrive !!!
